I have heard both negative and positive things about people with mental illnesses. Some of the negative things I've heard people call people with mental illnesses are crazy, insane, weird, messed up, and retarded. On the other hand some of the positive things I've heard people with mental illnesses get called are special, unique, and different in a good way. You should never call people with mental illnesses negative things because it could make the illness worse for the person. Try to keep what you call people with mental illnesses positive it will make you a better person and help the person with a mental illness feel better about themselves.

It could be hard to befriend a person with a mental illness because you might feel like if you leave you would make it worse for you or that person. That's not always the case though. If you talk to that person and tell them that this is for the better you could befriend them without their illness getting worse. If you are to befriend someone with a mental illness do it in a nice way. If you aren't sure if you want to stay friends with them then wait a few more days to make your final decision that will help both of you in the long run.
