Landfill Waste(Mammoli):

1) Definition- Landfill waste includes materials such as plastic, paper, metals, and organic waste, disposed of in landfills without advanced recycling or reuse treatments.

2) Positive Aspect- The methane produced from decomposition can be recovered and used to generate energy. If well managed, landfills can reduce air pollution and allow the recovery of some materials.

3) Negative Aspect- Soil and water pollution, methane emissions harmful to the climate, large space occupation, bad odors, and the proliferation of insects and rodents.

4) Example- An example of a harmful landfill: The Malagrotta Landfill, near Rome, caused pollution and greenhouse gas emissions. Closed in 2013, it is now undergoing remediation and biogas recovery for energy

5) Your Point of View- In my opinion, these problems origine from inadequate waste management and the lack of more sustainable solutions.

People burn them to make energy for cars, homes, and factories.

Positive effect:

Fossil fuels give us a lot of energy to power things we use every day, like light bulbs, cars, and machines. They help people travel, cook food, and stay warm in winter.

Negative effect:

When we burn fossil fuels, they make dirty air and add gases to the sky that make the Earth hotter. This can change the weather and hurt animals, plants, and even people. It also takes millions of years to make fossil fuels, so one day they might run out.

Example:

Cars use gasoline, which comes from oil (a fossil fuel). When we drive, the car burns the gas and makes smoke that goes into the air.

My opinion

Fossil fuels are useful, but they can be very bad for the planet. I think we should use other kinds of energy, like wind and sunlight, so we don’t hurt the Earth as much and we can be more sustainable.

When there is too much noise, the brain cannot relax well, which can make us feel tired, nervous, or even sick over time.

Example of sound pollution

A simple example of noise pollution is when you live near an airport and hear the loud noise of planes taking off and landing all day. This noise can be annoying, make it difficult to sleep, give headaches and stress people. Even animals nearby can be disturbed. It is a problem because the noise is too loud and continuous.

Point of view

Noise pollution is a problem because too much noise can ruin your quality of life. Think about it: when there is always noise, such as traffic, sirens or factories, it becomes difficult to relax, concentrate or even sleep well. Reducing unnecessary noise means creating a quieter world, where everyone can live better.

1.	Definition:

Water pollution is the contamination of rivers, lakes, seas, and groundwater due to harmful substances like waste, chemicals, and bacteria. This makes the water dangerous for humans, animals, and the environment.

2.	Positive Effects (if any):

In rare cases, some pollutants, like agricultural fertilizers, can help aquatic plants grow, providing food for some animals. However, this is only temporary and often leads to bigger problems, such as excessive algae growth that harms other aquatic life.

3.	Negative Effects:

Water pollution has many negative consequences:

	•	For health: Contaminated water can spread diseases like cholera and hepatitis.

	•	For animals: Many fish and other aquatic creatures die due to toxic substances.

	•	For the environment: Too many chemicals in the water can reduce oxygen levels, suffocating marine life.

	•	For the economy: Pollution damages industries like fishing and tourism, causing financial losses.

4.	Practical Example:

A famous case is the Flint water crisis in the United States. In 2014, the city’s drinking water was contaminated with lead, causing serious health problems for residents, especially children.

5.	Personal Opinion:

Water pollution is a serious problem that affects everyone. Even though it may have small positive effects in rare cases, the damage it causes is much greater. Governments, businesses, and individuals must do more to protect water, as it is an essential resource for life.

1. Definition

Donating to charity means giving money, things, or time to help people or organizations in need. It can be done through money donations, volunteering or other example.

2. How It Helps the Environment

Charity donations can help the environment in many ways:

Giving money to organizations that plant trees helps reduce CO₂.

Donating to recycling charities helps reduce waste.

3. Negative Effects (If Any)

Even though donating is good, there can be some problems:

Lack of transparency: Some charities do not use the money correctly.

Unwanted waste: Donating things that are not useful can create more trash.

4. Practical Example

A real example is donating to WWF to help save endangered animals. The money helps protect forests and supports projects to keep animals safe.

5. Personal Opinion

I think donating to charity is a very good thing. But it is important to check if the organization is honest and really helps. Also, giving time and effort (like volunteering) is just as important as giving money.

1 Definition: Air pollution refers to the contamination of the air with harmful substances that can negatively impact human health, the environment, and climate. These substances can include gases, particulate matter, and other chemicals released into the atmosphere from various sources.

2 Positive Contributions: There are no positive contributions of air pollution

3 Negative Effects: Air pollution has a wide range of harmfull effects on both human health and the environment.

- Human Health: It can cause respiratory problems, cardiovascular disease, and even cancer. Children, old people, and people with pre-existing health conditions are particularly vulnerable.

- Environment: Air pollution can damage ecosystems, acidify lakes and rivers, and contribute to climate change. It can also harm crops and livestock, leading to food insecurity.

4 Practical Example: A common example of air pollution is the smog that often forms over cities. This smog is a mixture of gasses from vehicle exhaust, industrial emissions, and other sources. It can reduce visibility, irritate the eyes, and make it difficult to breathe.

5 My Point of View: Air pollution is a serious problem that requires attention. We need to implement technologies to reduce emissions and protect our air quality, and we all have a responsibility to contribute to its preservation.

1) Definition of climate change:

Climate change is the long-term change in temperature, it is mainly caused by fossil fuel combustion and intensive farming.

2)How it contributes positively to the environment:

Climate change is not positive, but it has made people more aware of taking precautions to safeguard the environment ES (Use of renewable energy)

3)Negative effects of climate change:

The negative effects are significant. For example, the rise in sea level, which leads to flooding in coastal cities. Another phenomenon that is occurring often in these years are the most extreme weather events (hurricanes, droughts, floods)

4)Practical example:

An example of climate change is the melting of ice in the polar regions. With increasing temperatures, the ice melts faster, causing the sea level to rise, which can flood cities.

5) My point of view:

I think that climate change is a very important problem but it can be solved with the commitment of all people.

DEFINITION: Is the variation of climate situation at global and temporal levels: is an increase of average global temperatures with weathers conditions associated . It have been developing since XIX century. The principal causes are: increase in the concentration of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere (CO2 and others); changes on the earth's surface as deforestation; increase in aerosols; intensive farming.

POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE EFFECTS: There aren't real positive effects for the environment but many people supported the idea that global warming will might benefit agriculture, reduce heating costs and may even boost tourism but is more probably that this effects will be in negative in facts there are multiples evidents effects how: melt of glaciers and increase of water in oceans; decrease of precipitation with drought and desertification in some area of the world and in other increase of alluvions with floods and ruin of cities; frequents weathers swings; loss of biodiversity.

PRACTICAL EXAMPLE: there is a reduction of water availability; increase of request of energy; bioclimatic discomfort; bad quality of air; hotter summers.

MY OPINION: Global warming is a natural process of evolution of earth but we have sped up of double this process with the industries, tecnological advancement, exploitation of naturals resources.... The problem can't be eliminated but only attenuated, anyway is difficult do this for the actual situation and little is being done, if the things will not change, in the nexts centuries the negative effects could tripled or more.
