Our film is a thriller/horror hybrid. We decided that making our film a hybrid was the better idea so that we wouldn't have to consider boundaries when it came to the narrative. Our initial chosen genre was thriller but we knew we wanted to incorporate aspects of the horror genre. Our main horror aspect is the theme of a curse throughout and people being followed and threatened. We then decided to form a hybrid film.

We took inspiration from the film 'Se7en' (1995) for our title sequence. We liked the idea of creating a mysterious character and keeping a hidden identity throughout the sequence. In the title sequence for 'Se7en', hands are shown in the shots quite shakily to create a certain mood for the film and upholding a theme of mystery. In our film we wanted the narrative to be about the main characters trying to discover who is threatening them and stop them which is relatable to the narrative and plot of 'Se7en' as two detectives hunt down a serial killer.

Another film we took inspiration from was 'Gone Girl' (2014). We thought that this film was very well made and presented the thriller genre really well consistently throughout. We liked how the film's narrative has a mysterious plot and had a constant theme of darkness and obscurity. These are themes that we would like our film to also reflect.
