         <description><![CDATA[<div>There needs to be flexibility with focus schools.  There needs to be flexibility with the timing and instructional practices that support the whole child.  In order to provide differentiation and individualized instruction we need to be flexible.  That doesn't mean we do not teach all of the scope and sequence, it is just presented differently. Especially if the school is multi-aged and you have the students for three-years.</div>]]></description>

Through the eval process, supervisors should know who needs more coaching, mentoring, and support that daily lesson plans and lesson study could be useful for.  I wouldn't recommend requiring all teachers to submit them to admin as a standard practice. </div>]]></description>

I believe that instead of asking for increased accountability (lesson plans) for our teachers with the greatest load is yet another disincentive for best teachers to teach students with the greatest needs. Instead, let's invest in teachers through amazing/differentiated PD and support. I believe that there is a big difference in the quantity and quality of PD that our teachers in high support schools have had compared to our neighboring districts. <br><br></div>]]></description>

Instead we could create supportive structures that allow for collaborative unit planning, for example schools could have budget that allows for teams to meet together and plan a unit of instruction collaboratively.  this could happen every 6 weeks or so.  </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>We need consistent high quality instruction, when we say there is no autonomy, it will likely result in the opposite.  Good teachers know their students and respond to their needs.  Are we saying no differentiation?  This kinda reminds me of the Vietnam story in Switch.  If they were told to implement a solution as it had always been implemented the bright spots would not have been found and ineffective solutions would have been replicated.</div>]]></description>
