This is María. I teach English in a language school in Cangas, a town on the coast. I've been working there for two years. I used to be a secondary education teacher.

Which warmers do you use and why?

I have used the two truths and a lie, the guessing answers provided... and some others.

Using warmers is a great way for students to get to know each other at the beginning of the school year and it's also a way to practise and review English at the beginning of each lesson while we wait for latecomers to arrive.

In some units I have the feeling I don't dedicate enough time to pronunciation, so it made me remember it is important and there are many ways in which we can practice the different sounds in class. I enjoyed learning how my colleagues use digital websites, before the school year starts again I'd like to become familiar with BBC bite size, blooket and classroom screen.

Will you change anything about the way you teach writing in the future? If so, why / why not?

I may reconsider the way I correct my students ' work, focusing on some mistakes but not paying attention to the less important ones. I tend to correct everything. I also want to start praising more, I'm sure it will have a positive impact.
