This synoptic map shows the ~Troughs. Which are basically low atmospheric pressure. This is where you would expect rain. This is shown by a dotted line
~Cold fronts. Which show the transition between the colder air and the warmer air. This is shown by the line with triangular shapes on it.
~Low pressure. This symbol indicates bad weather, and is shown by the L symbol.
~Tropical cyclone symbol. These are the circular lines revolving around around the large black circle. The lines have only very small spaces in between them, this indicates very fast winds. The lines become more spaced out as they move further away from the black dot, this indicates slowing winds.

Cyclone Yasi was caused by the warm temperature of the Pacific Ocean and dense clouds. Gale force winds of estimated speeds of 285 kilometres per hour started the cyclone, which was first formed in Fiji on the 29th of January 2011. But as it moved closer to the Australian coastline on the 31st of January, started to become a category 2 cyclone. During that same day Yasi intensified to a category 4 cyclone. Cyclone Yasi hit the coast of North Queensland at around 1am on the 3rd of February. The areas that were hit the hardest include Mission Beach, Cairns, Townsville, Tully, Cardwell and Innisfail. Cyclone Yasi occurred because all the weather factors to make a cyclone were right. These included warm, tropical seas and dense clouds. Cyclone Yasi was so big because of its lengthy journey across tropical seas. As Cyclone Yasi travelled from North Vanuatu to the Australian coast, the only land in Cyclone Yasi's path was New Caledonia, which did not affect Cyclone Yasi's power. Cyclone Yasi travelled approximately 2400km across tropical oceans, growing and intensifying the whole time.

Australian Red Cross- The Australian Red Cross helped to rebuild over 12,000 homes in far north Queensland, after the destruction of Cyclone Yasi. They helped provide psychological support for people deeply affected by the disaster and resources to prepare for future natural disasters. They worked with local governments such as The Department of Communities, to support families and communities whose homes were destroyed by Cyclone Yasi.

Government- The Australian Government provided support for the victims of Cyclone Yasi. Centrelink provided $250,000 to help the residents of affected towns, as well as farmers who had lost their crops and business. The Government Disaster Recovery Payments would be made available to people in areas affected by Yasi. The government also allowed qualifying residents to be exempt from flood levy payments, which would usually be taken from everyone to help with the results of the cyclone.

ECONOMIC-
Cyclone Yasi caused more than $800 million in damage across far north Queensland. The cyclone also destroyed many resorts and tourist attractions, vastly decreasing the tourism popularity for far north Queensland.

SOCIAL-
Yasi left 200,000 homes without power and 35,000 people were evacuated from their homes, with 150 homes completely destroyed. Only one fatality was reported.

ENVIRONMENTAL-
The storm waters containing harmful pesticides, ran off sides of buildings and debris, and into the Great Barrier Reef, destroying parts of the coral. Other rubbish and materials caused issues for the ecosystem in the reef, as well as the coral being shattered by the surge. 70% of Queensland's banana crops were destroyed by Yasi.
