My family is way different than the Wall's family. My family isn't on the run all the time while the Walls family is in the run every here and then. Another thing my family is different from the Walls family is that they don't save money instead they just spend it right away on groceries and alcohol.

What I learned about the character that I have not personally experience is Jeannette, she is supposively loved by her parents but they don't care about her wealth and if she even eats throughout the day.

The social issue I chose that is present in a characters life is Health. Health was a social issue for Jeannette

Jeannette is in the hospital talking to the nurse how her mother lets her do anything at home. Jeannette tells the nurse, "Mom says I'm mature for my age," I told them, " and she lets me cook for myself a lot."(Walls 11)

This quote stood out to me because it shows how her mother doesn't pay to much attention to her and her siblings and it shows how

The author's use of dialogue is effective because it tells us how Jeannette's parents are through the dialogue's. The dialogue enhances the storytelling by giving us details how Jeannette was raised how her father and mother are to her and how their parents are on the run and make up something to make it more interesting for Jeannette and her siblings.

3) Choose a significant event that occurs in your reading. What do you think the author's purpose was in telling that part of the story?

A significant event that occurs in the book is when Rex runs out of the hospital with Jeannetter without paying the medical bills. What I think the author's purpose was showing us that Jeannette thinks her father is herioc and how she used to running away with her father.

4) What figures of speech are used? (metaphors,similes,hyperbole,personificaiton,etc.)

The figures of speech that are mostly being used are metaphors an example is when Jeannette was being wrapped due to the big burns she got. "Look, I'm a half-mummy,"

6) What was the work's original intended audience? To what extent are you similar or different from that audience? I think the books original intended audience was for the people that don't know the struggle that have everything in their life.

3) How might readers in different time periods or of different ages interpret the text? The people from different time periods or different ages will explain the story differently because some people that are born during the era of when the glass castle is happeing will know how difficult it is to live during the Great Depression and the people that are born after will be born to a family that has a home due to their parents being able to get a job.

Jeannette was already planning to pack up due to her father losing his job. "I wonder where we'll live next."(Walls 67). This shows that Jeannette is so used to her father losing his job that she knows they are moving within the days.

The social issue for the Walls family Wealth they still struggle in that section a lot. This issue is present for the whole family because Rex and Rosemary never have enough money for new clothes or for food because Rex always spends all of it. Rosemary was working and had a good paycheck but Rex would ask for it and he would buy beer spending all the money and they wouldn't have enough money throughout the whole week.

What I learned from a character that I have yet not personally experienced is Jeannette she is a smart young girl but she isn't treated right by her parents. Jeannette's parents don't care if she gets hurt or if she gets bullied in school because her parents are way too focused on their work. An experience I share with a character is with Jeannette because she cares for her siblings and parents and trys her best to keep the family happy.

Jeannette was making friends but her dads family doesn't want her to be friends with the black people. "Keep this up and people are going to think you're a nigger lover."(Walls 143). This shows how Erma and her family hate black people because they think they're criminals and steal but some of them aren't and are real good people.

The social issue that the Walls family have is social class. They struggle in social class because they are at the very bottom due to them not having a stable paycheck and they struggle to live with the very little money they have. They also struggle because Jeannette parents find a job but don't stay for to long because they give up or want to move somewhere cheaper.

What I learned from a character that I have not yet personally experienced is with Rex Walls. Rex is a independent type of person that denies all the help and doesn't ask for help when he needs it. Rex was refusing to live with his parents for help but they needed it and his family convinced him to go. My family is different from Jeannette's fathers family because my family isn't mean to the people of color and Rex's family is very mean to the people of color and they hate them even by looking at them or talking about them.

Jeannette would hide and wait until the other students throw away their food so she can eat so she wouldn't starve. "I couldn't get over the way kids tossed out all this perfectly good food: apples, hard-boiled eggs, packages of peanut-butter crackers, sliced pickles, half-pint cartons of milk, cheese sandwiches, with just just one bite taken out because the kid didn't like the pimentos in the cheese."(Walls 173). This quote stood out to be because it shows how her parents don't even save up money for her so she can eat and they don't even care if she even eats at school or not.Another thing that stood out to me is that Brian, Jeannette's brother does the same thing, well thats what Jeannette thinks.

What experiences do you share with the characters? An experience I can share with Jeannette and with Lori is that they save up money for their wants, they are saving up to move away from Welch. I save up my money for my wants like clothes and etc.

In what ways is your family similar or different from those in the book? My family is different from the authors because my family knows how to manage themselves financialy and physically while the Walls family don't manage themselves financially, they never have money and physically by them always the kids getting hurt.
