July of 2017
This song represents my online gaming life. When I was 8, one of my cousins told me I couldn't play video games because I am female. To deflect that comment, I started playing any game I could get my hands on. The chorus in Killer Queen is "She's a Killer Queen
Gunpowder, gelatine
Dynamite with a laser beam
Guaranteed to blow your mind
Anytime." I like to think this portrays how I am when I play video games, because no one expects a top player to be a girl. (UPDATE 2018 Maddy you're not at the top dum dum and you never were)

2005-2010
I spent the majority of my time in elementary school at the library. Sometimes I'd sit there by myself, because no one enjoyed the pleasure of reading as much as me. My asthma also prevented me from going outside, so I gladly just stayed in the library surrounded by books. Pity Party represents my library days, even though I enjoyed my solitary, I sometimes wished that my friends would come with me to the library.

Since Age 5
Ever since I was 5 years old, I have been playing video games, specifically with my Papa (Grandfather). Super Mario was one of the games on the Super Nintendo we have played for 10 years, and we still haven't cleared level 8! The Super Mario theme song is one that many recognize, but it reminds me of my bond with my grandparents.

2009-2017 (My years at PCS)
I've been to the same school, Pasadena Christian School, for 9 years. Now that I'm in high school, I'm realizing how much people can change and grow. The first stanza in Ride is
"I just wanna stay in the sun where I find
I know it's hard sometimes
Pieces of peace in the sun's peace of mind
I know it's hard sometimes
Yeah, I think about the end just way too much
But it's fun to fantasize
All my enemies who wouldn't wish who I was
But it's fun to fantasize"
I chose this song to represents how I sometimes long for things to go back to the way they were when I was in elementary school.

2006-2017
I, like many other Elementary school children, had a best friend. I used to talk with her all the time, until 5th grade. We started to grow apart, as both of us began to discover we had no common interests. But, I did miraculously find a new best friend, one who will stick with me until the end. I think "Bye-Bye Yesterday" fits the end of one friendship, and the beginning of a new friendship. (Maddy update august 2018 no more Bea, now there's Julie)

September of 2015
Japanese culture has always influenced me, as my Papa is a 6th degree black belt in Judo. I grew up "in the dojo", and recently I really began my passion for Japanese pop culture. I love the artist who does English versions of Japanese pop and anime themes/titles. This song was one of the first songs that sparked my love for Asian music (k-pop, j-pop), even though it is in English.

December of 2015
This song made its first impression on me when I watched an anime that fuels my fervor for violin and music comes from. The way it was presented left an irremovable mark on my musical soul. Camille Saint-Saëns played a role in my childhood when I first started learning about classical music. He composed the "Carnival of the Animals", some of the primary pieces I learned to see themes of music in. He is my favorite composer to this day, and I hope to perform his pieces in my own interpretation on the stage one day.

March of 2017
At the beginning of my 8th grade year, there were new transfer students who I became well acquainted with. We both applied to Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy, both hoping we would each get in. Soon after the applications were turned in, my new friend and I began to belabor over drama that was occurring beneath the façade of my school. It became so extreme that she started telling me I would never be accepted into FSHA. I let her throw her own insecurities at me, as she was being harassed for even applying to FSHA. After I discovered this, I sent this song remixed by VGR to calm her down, since I play this song in my stressful situations. When the "letters of destiny" arrived, she wasn't accepted, but I was. After that, she mildly apologized for what she said, and now we act like normal friends. It took a while to forgive her, and I would never forget my first true "haters".
