Durante las fiestas patronales aun se realizan bailes, danzas y ceremonias.

Se pueden observar danzas antiguas como lo son:

El baile de los moros y cristianos de Chiquimula que son conexiones directas con la cultura occidental, puesto que el tema es el mundo árabe, el cerco a Argel, la caída de Roma, Gaiferos y Fierabrás.

Algunos bailes interesantes son:
  • El palo de cintas
  • Danza de flores
  • Danza de los mejicanos
  • Bailes de gigantes que son compartidos por la región maya.
Además se realizan bailes sociales y fiestas en relación a los juegos florales del oriente de Guatemala. Donde la actividad del certamen literario es importante, participan las reinas y sus damas de honor elegidas por la comunidad.
