The government is a representative democracy. Meaning that citizens can choose who they want to be in charge to say. Presidents here only serve for 6 years and cannot get reelected. The power is equally divided among three branches in the government, the executive branch, the legislative branch and the judicial branch. Each branch of government can change acts of the other branches.

A government from a different country that is opposite of the Philippines is North Korea. North Korea's government is a dictatorship, where one person is in control over the entire country, and they only do what they want for the country, even if it doesn't better in any way. While the Philippines is a representative democracy meaning people elect who they want to lead them towards a better future. While that person does do what is right for the country. For example, making alliances to help each other.

Laws that citizens must follow are close to what the United States have, for example you cannot be in possession of, transport or use illegal drugs, even little amounts will lead to jail sentences. Police in the Philippines are encouraged to kill drug traffickers if resisting arrest. You must be able to show some id when requested by police. Severe penalties can happen when in a child abuse or rape case. Any person under the age of 18 is classified as a child. Displaying public affection for same sex relationships can result in a 6 month jail sentence.

Leaders are elected in the
Philippines if they follow along with the traits that the people want. For instance, the leader has to be able to lead the country towards a better society. They have to be inspirational, meaning that they have to be inspiring and trustworthy. They have to be able to make the right decisions for the country, for example being able to use the country's resources responsibly. And they need to be able to make alliances and be able to understand the views from Congress and Senate.
