         <description><![CDATA[<div>1. Thomson depicted the atom as a positively charged "soup" with negatively charged electrons embedded in it<br>3. He experimented with a cathode ray tube which is a sealed glass tube with little air in it. This has an electrode at each end one of them is positively charged, and one is negatively charged.&nbsp;When a high-voltage electric current is applied, it creates a cathode ray. This cathode ray is attracted to the positively charged plate and is repelled by the negatively charged plate.<br>4. From his experiment, he concluded that the ray was negatively charged and discovered electrons.</div>]]></description>
