The energy center produces enough power for about 54,000 homes, avoids emissions equal to removing 67,000 cars from the road and has generated millions in local economic benefits through jobs, taxes and landowner payments.

Emerson Creek Wind offers an opportunity to address Ohio’s growing electricity demand and replace the energy from the announced numerous fossil fuel plant closings in the Midwest with clean domestic energy, while diversifying the local farm economy.

Emerson Creek will create jobs and generate an entirely new source of long-term revenue for local schools, governments, and landowners. In the long term, the project promises to bring sustained tax revenue to the county for the local government and schools, as well as 30 years of local purchasing, employment, and investment. Farmers who host turbines on their property and other participating landowners will also receive annual community lease payments. These payments will continue over the projected 30-year lifespan of the wind farm, injecting millions of dollars into the economies of Erie and Huron Counties to support local merchants, contractors, and equipment suppliers.

Homeowners who income qualify may receive a $3,000 grant for the purchase and installation of a heat pump. Note that income qualifying homeowners will receive $3,000, paid directly to the contractor, and are not limited to the $1,800 grant referenced on the Heat Pump Incentive website.

We‘ll use an innovative lease model that enables One Roof to claim the Federal Tax Credit through “Direct Pay.” One Roof will then pass the savings onto the homeowners. “Direct Pay” is a provision of the IRA. It allows nonprofit organizations to receive the value of the tax credit as a refund from the Internal Revenue Service.

REP is proposing to construct solar projects, totaling 1,463 kW, on four Minneapolis school district buildings. Each building will also have an energy storage component. These installations are part of Xcel Energy‘s On August 6, 2024, the Minnesota Public Utilites Commission approved this Xcel Energy proposed project. The intent of this project, beyond the energy savings that will be seen each day, is to have a source of available energy that can be provided to the local energy grid in case of a disaster that would curtail the delivery of energy from normal . The Lower Sioux Indian Community's project will fund energy audits to assess conditions, identify deficiencies, and conduct weatherization activities including the installation of hempcrete insulation in 60 residencies and 70 cold climate air-source heat pumps to help reduce propane dependency.

Project estimated to reduce 1,400 metric tons of CO2 between 2025 and 2030, as well as 7,300 metric tons of CO2 between 2025 and 2050.

Jeff Hammond, executive director of the International Ground Source Heat Pump Association, agreed, pointing out that schools can now get 30% of their costs for new systems reimbursed through the Inflation Reduction Act. That’s in recognition of the fact that they cool the air very well using little electricity. Only ground source heat pumps are eligible under the IRA, not air source heat pumps that are installed above ground and are more common.

At her school in St. Paul, Randall saw that lack of air conditioning had become a major problem for students and staff. Now, she said there are fewer headaches and the cooler air even helps the students manage their mental health.

The City’s application, J40 Community LEAPing Forward: Accelerated Planning for Commercial Building and Industrial Decarbonization (LEAPing), builds upon previous research on how to reduce the largest sector of greenhouse gas emissions in the Duluth community: use of energy in commercial and industrial buildings. The City of Duluth is partnered with the community-based organization Ecolibrium3 (Eco3), whose mission is to inspire and lead change in our community toward an equitable and sustainable future. The project will engage a wide group of stakeholders to develop innovative pathways to address cross-cutting energy opportunities in commercial and industrial decarbonization. The project aims to make energy cheaper and find clean solutions for industries, which could lead to more jobs, more renewable energy, cleaner industries, and less energy poverty.

The City was awarded $500,000 in the first phase for planning, technical assistance, and cohort-based support, and is eligible to compete for approximately $1M in implementation funding in the second phase. The program contributes to the Biden-Harris Administration’s Justice40 Initiative commitment to support eligible governments to direct 40% of the overall benefits of the EFG Program to flow to disadvantaged communities.
