I would not be the person I am today without the care, attention, and guidance you provided to me, and to my two brothers before me. You without a doubt impacted my life tremendously, have always been in my thoughts ever since I left your class over 9 years ago. Thank you for instilling qualities in me I could not get anywhere else, and for giving me tools I still find value you in today. You have impacted so many lives through your day to day routine, and very few other people could say the same. Thank you for everything you sacrificed for your students. I cannot thank you enough for teaching me things I will never forget. Thank you for putting so much time into us, and caring for us, to be successful. I am so grateful for even being in one of your classes, and being your last 7th-grade class you teach. I wish you could stay one more year to finish teaching me and my classmates. You have prepared us so well for high school and I can't thank you enough. I will pass on my knowledge from you to my younger sibling since she didn't get to experience the pleasures of your class. I hope you enjoy your retirement, and I wish you all the best.

From
Uliana Romanova

I can't imagine what my life would be like if you hadn’t taught me. I give thanks to you for your time and effort in our class (even with the crazy ones).

Dear Ms. Anex

Congratulations Ms. Anex on retirement. Thank you for being such a great teacher. I know that my sister Isabella Lim learned a lot from you in 7-8th grade. After having you for one year now I’m a little bit jealous that she had you for a teacher for two years. I learned a lot from you this year in 7th grade. You're an amazing teacher and I appreciate you coming to school everyday to teach us about a whole lot of interesting stuff. Even after the school day you stay at school late to post stuff on Classroom and Jupiter to help us with homework, and to make sure we know everything we need to know. It's not just for me, it’s for the whole school too. You even have your own recycling program thing that you do for the school. I enjoyed everything that we did this year. Starting with sleep info to now learning about mammal reproduction. I look forward to your class everyday, and now I am sad that you will not be teaching me anymore. I hope you enjoy the rest of your life in retirement. I will never forget you as one of my favorite teacher

From Jeremiah Lim

Dear Ms. Anex,

Thank you for teaching us science. I feel like I never truly enjoyed science until I got into 7th grade, and now science is one of my favorite subjects. I would've loved to have you until 8th grade, but I wish you the best in the years of your retirement. I appreciate that you came to school every day just to teach us science. I am confident that I will remember you even when I retire. I am sad to see you go, but I hope you make the most of your retirement and enjoy the rest of your life to the fullest. Congratulations on having a very successful career and I know that all of your students are happy for you. I am sure that I will use the knowledge that I have gained in your class for my future in life. From learning about sleep to tarantulas to learning about evolution to learning cell theory, you have helped us gain the most knowledge of any teacher I have ever had. Hopefully the recycling at this school continues, in your retirement. I always enjoyed hearing all the stories of random science facts that always fascinated the whole class. It will be sad not learning chemistry and physics in your class next year, but I just wanted to congratulate you for all your hard work in the many years you have taught. Thank you Ms. Anex.

Sincerely,

Oliven Katz

Class of 2024

I hope you will still come and see us at Friday music. Maybe also drop in at our classes sometimes, to make sure we're learning enough. I have a story to tell you. When I was in 6th grade I was nervous. Everyone told me that you were scary and mean. Turns out you were none of those things. My brother told me some stories about your teaching, and I doubted the truth. I suddenly believed all of those stories on the first day of school. You welcomed us with open arms. In true Ms. Anex fashion we took notes on the first day of school, and then took a test on the 3rd day of school. Through all of these months of you teaching me I've learned more than any other teacher, ever! Thank you Ms. Anex, this school will not be the same without you. It was really nice and fun and interesting when you taught us like when you talk about things you heard about or interesting facts about organisms. It was always interesting to hear. I haven't been at this school for long, but you really care about us like telling us to go to the lost and found to find some of our stuff if we lost it and you also care about our campus a lot like going around looking for trash and recyclable stuff and you also make recycling days fun like letting us crush cans. It was really fun with you here on campus. I wish you could teach me chemistry in 8th grade to hear some fun facts about accidental experiments but sadly, you can't. I'm going to miss you Ms. Anex. We are all going to miss you. But, I hope you enjoy retirement Ms. Anex!

Sincerely, Albert Clemente

Ms. Anex,

Congratulations on your retirement. You have dedicated so much of your life and time to education and your students that it is truly admirable. When I was a student in your class, you taught me a lot of science, but you also taught me an abundance of knowledge that I have carried with me throughout my life. You taught me the importance of keeping the world clean and recycling, and you taught me that you need to wear beanies in cold weather because most of your heat leaves your head. Is this a random fact that stuck with me? Absolutely. However, this is something that I tell my own students constantly! I was blessed to enter my high school science classes as prepared as I was, and ended up taking AP Chemistry and AP Biology. I wasn't a strong student before, so the fact that I was able to be successful in those classes proves how good you are at being an educator and how much of an impact you made on my life. My sister (Madison) and I used to get so excited when we would go grocery shopping at Nob Hill and run into you. I hope you get to enjoy nature and science into your retirement, and know that you've truly made an impact on your student's lives.

Sincerely,
Cayla Oty (CSMH 2012)

Hi Ms. Anex! I'm Baelin Dawes and I graduated from 8th grade in 2012 from CSMH. I have incredibly fond memories of my time in your classroom, and I think that you were one of the best educators that I've ever had! You brought fun into the classroom and encouraged your students to think critically. You stretched us to perform public speaking, to ask questions, to both memorize and reason, and to see the world as a series of beautiful and interlocked systems.
I was well-equipped for science in high school and graduated from Ann Sobrato in 2016 after earning a 5 on the AP Biology and AP Environmental Science exams :)
I continued my education with a BS in Finance from Case Western Reserve University and an MS in Operations Research from Case Western Reserve University. I'm now working at Lockheed Martin Space in Denver, CO and am able to express my passion for the environment and spend my days learning about the incredible universe around us. All this is to say that I'm a better and happier person for having learned from you!
Thank you for instilling values and passion into your students, and thank you for impacting my life in such a profound and meaningful way! Though I only had you as my teacher for seventh grade, I have by far learned the most in your class and you are my favorite teacher ever. You have not just affected my life, but the lives of all the students in your class. You have taught me always to put in my best effort and try my best. Your class always posed as a fun and interesting part of my day. You stayed late almost every day to post things to help us out. I have had a wonderful time in your class whether it was doing recycling or learning about sleep, tarantulas, cells, and much, much more. I wish you could be my teacher for eighth because there will never be a teacher I learn more from. I am proud to be in one of the last classes you taught and will pass on my knowledge to my younger sibling and those around me. I loved all the projects we did in your class including; the Tarantula Skit, Planet Quercus, and the cell model. I am disappointed you won’t get to teach us chemistry and see us graduate from eighth grade. You have shown me my passion for science and the world around me. Thanks to you, I fell more in love with science, I loved all the hands on activities that we did. And I'm very grateful for you because you were always there for us when we had a question or were confused and you never judged us for being confused. You will be so missed at csmh there is no doubt, all your dancing at the dances, your funny jokes, and helping to keep the school cleaner. Thank you for all that you have done for us, I'm so glad we got to be the last 8th grade to have you for two years!

Sincerely,
Vanessa Heredia (8th 2023)

But I am so happy that I was able to have you for two years. You have taught us so much and the information you have taught us will never leave my mind. I feel very lucky that I am part of the last class to have you for two years. Your stories you would talk about were always entertaining. And the videos you would show us too. I really love that in 8th grade we did so many experiments and projects. I specifically loved the rollercoaster project. It wasn't only fun but it also made me learn about how a rollercoaster works with kinetic and potential energy, acceleration and deceleration. The 7th grade projects were also very fun. But looking into the future, there is no doubt I am ready for high school. Thanks to you I feel like I am very well prepared for physics next year.
Sincerely,
Gabrielle Gomez (2023)

When I found out what science is truly about, it quickly became my favorite class. The way that you make sure everyone in class is involved really made me care about this subject. The way that you make us do our homework helps us be prepared for every test. You've never thrown us into anything that we couldn't do and you truly want our success. You have taught us so much about sleep, tarantulas, cells, anatomy, animal kingdoms/classification, climate change, carbon cycle, atoms, elements, dry ice, mining, acids/bases, and so much more! This padlet is full of our final goodbyes, but the wonderful things you have taught us will live on in our hearts and minds forever. Out of all my classes, I would definitely say that your class has best prepared my classmates and I for high school and beyond. Education is one thing, but you gave us so much more. You are the teacher who deserves the loudest applause when you retire! Saying goodbye hurts so much. But it's the perfect opportunity to tell you that you are the best middle school science teacher we’ve all had.

It's truly an honor to be in your last 8th grade class,
Cali Barberi

I will miss you dancing on the blacktop during Friday music or during school dances. I will miss going to you classroom in the morning, and just saying hi, too. My younger brothers are definitely missing out.
There are so many things that I love about you as a teacher. I love how you stay after school so students can complete their homework. Having you as my 7th and 8th grade science teacher was the most fun I have ever had in science, learning about a variety of different topics that helped me in my first year of high school and I bet will help me all throughout my life. The things that you did to for us was unlike what I had ever seen any other teacher do for their students, pushing them to do their very best and under no circumstance, allowing them to miss an opportunity to learn. You had a fun and enjoyable way of teaching that kept everyone engaged and entertained no matter what we were learning about. The impact you made on Charter School was so great and you will have a legacy that will live on forever. The amount of student’s lives you have changed ensures that. I appreciate everything that you did for me and I will always remember you as the greatest science teacher of all time.
Sincerely,
Tyler Gill (Charter School Graduate in the Class of 2022)

Congratulations! I don't know where to start. Thank you so much for some of the best science and life education I have ever received. Going back to when I was just a little kid, you've always been welcoming and eager to share your vast wealth of knowledge with me and to anyone willing to take the time to listen. Reflecting back on my two years in your class, I feel astoundingly lucky and privileged to have had you for a teacher. No where else would I have experienced the lessons and projects with the amount of depth, learning, and memories as you provided. To this day I miss your class room and its oddities, the fun nick-knacks, and all the nooks and crannies stuffed with past projects and science supplies. There are so many positive and nostalgic memories I have, the oak gall project being one of my favorites (I still tell that story from time to time). You prepared me in so many ways for the future, I cannot thank you enough. Being your student was a truly special, amazing, and unique experience; one that I will always and forever look back on fondly.

And even though I have long since graduated, I have the honor of being one of your friends. I still continue to learn from you and treasure our lengthy conversations about whatever comes up. Whether it be about plants, or travel, or sharing funny stories, your friendship means the world to me. It's impossible for me to put into words how incredibly, incredibly lucky I feel to have had you as a mentor and friend.

Thank you. Thank you for sharing your time, your knowledge, and the occasional glass of lemonade.

Your friend,
Auggie

Hey, Ms.Anex, This Is Colin Sutter Glad to be talking to you again; I heard you are retiring, and I am so happy to hear that you are finally getting to take this well-earned rest. Out of all the teachers I have had and probably ever will have, you were in a league of your own. Throughout my elementary career, I was always excited to finally get into your class because you were so nice to talk to and I was excited to learn. Now I can Say Comfortablely that your class lived up to my expectations and far surpassed them. I consider your guidance and friendship given to me during that time invaluable to me. Another thing: not only are you a great teacher, but you are a great person who puts care and consideration into almost everything they do. Additionally, another thing that makes you great is that you are also pleasant to talk to; your invigorating personality never fails to brighten everyone's day. I appreciate what you have done for me as a good friend and a teacher. But also the effort you put into and the results of the countless hours you have spent teaching to make the world a brighter place to live. Your influence on this world will never be forgotten, nor shall it fade away, nor shall your impact on my mind and soul. Some specific times I remember are when we went around a lunch picking through bins for recycling, when we made the marble coasters, Getting to come to see the excellent exhibits during special events, your terrific and inspiring classroom full of interesting kick knacks and vibrate plants, your poor mice for your snake, and the wheel I got for them (do you still have that?) . As well as all the fascinating lessons I learned and participated in (I remember that one day I thought you were going on a tangent about geology but it was actually the whole class). I recall the talks we had about science and the ideas you inspired me to pursue, and to this day, you have played an integral part in the path of education I now choose to follow as I move into college (I am going to the University of california Santa Cruz by the way). All in all I just want to say thank you for the enriching experience you have provided me just by being yourself. I deeply hope you enjoy your retirement and that you Continue to have a great time in your life.

Ms. Anex,

Congratulations on retiring! You have earned it. Your passion for science was contagious and you positively impacted SO many of your students. Looking back at my academic journey, I cannot ignore the massive impact you had. I learned how to study well and I learned foundational concepts I still use today. Mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell! You grew my love for science and for learning about science and I am forever grateful. It is still, by far, my favorite subject. You will be profoundly missed at Charter. I hope you get to have many new adventures and learn many new exciting things in the years to come. Have a wonderful retirement!

Sincerely,
Emily Sorenson

I have learned so much from you in just one year, and I cannot stress enough that I am sad to see you go. This has been the best year of my life. I’ve had so many memorable experiences and I am honored that I will be the last generation of students you will ever be teaching again. I don’t want this school year to end! The CSMH campus will never be the same without you. I can only imagine how many more memories I would’ve been able to make if you were here for one more year. I never was able to get that elusive A and I will always regret only getting that B+. I hope we meet again someday.

-Elliott Padilla

I loved it when I got to go into your classroom after school and play with your marble runs. I also remember when I was in fifth grade, and you told me about the poison newt. I remember that same day there was a snake under my mom’s ramp and she called you, then you told me a lot of facts about snakes. You will always be a big part of my life, you teach such amazing things. I will never forget you! I have so many memories that I am going to cherish for a very very very very very very long time.
