Many also use their bikes for commute purposes as most people live in big cities where owning a car is not as practical. Racing bikes for recreation and competition are not as common but prices on these bikes are extremely high and can reach up to 13,000 dollars for some of the best bikes on the market. Sales in the US reached 17.4 million according to the National Bike Dealers Association in 2015.
