How I came to the UofA

My journey here was not easy, but I am glad every day that I get to attend this school. I come from a small town called Prairie Grove which is about twenty minutes away from the university. I came for about a year back in 2021-2022, but I had to take a gap year for financial reasons. I am now back and ready as ever when I started back last fall. I noticed that I am more attentive in my classes and really enjoy being in the classroom. I work about thirty hours a week and take twelve hours of classes. I have learned so much about myself and how much I desire to become a teacher. My life's purpose is to help others and the best way I can see myself doing that is teaching young people. I can't wait to start my career but I am enjoying where I am now in my life.

Things that matter to me

I think everyone would agree that family is important to them. But I think that for me, my family is what helps me keep going. I really just have two brothers and a sister, my dad isn't really in the picture and my mother passed in 2020 this month actually. That tragedy honestly shaped me into who I am today and I wouldn't be anywhere without the teachings and love of my mother. I try my best to be the best sister I can to my little brother Josh who is pictured above. I love him like he's my own baby and taking care of him is like a full-time job sometimes but I wouldn't trade it for anything. He helps me keep going in school and reminds me of the reason I pursue the career I want. I remember the teachers who were there for me when I needed them, and I want to be there for students like me and my brother.

My boyfriend Blaze

Blaze is someone I met a year and a half ago. I can't see my life without him and I know that he is the best person for me. He pushed me to get back in school and gave me the courage to try. He has been there for me when I needed it every time. He loves me and my brothers and I know that he has had such an impact on all of us. We both have lost a parent, so we lean on each other when we need it. He spoils me and I spoil him. :) I can count on him to push me when I need it, whether it be doing homework or fixing my attitude before I go to work. And I know I do the same for him. I am so thankful that God brought him into my life.
