         <description><![CDATA[<div>Stopped - a $1 billion loan to Whitehaven Coal by pushing NAB and 12 other banks to walk away [1]. This is a <strong>major blow to one of Australia's biggest coal miners</strong> and its plans to dig five massive new coal projects. <br>The Move Beyond Coal movement took what should have been a simple job for Whitehaven Coal — renewing a loan it had renewed 3 times before — and in the space of 10 months scuttled the entire deal. <br>Even Whitehaven's 2.65 billion in cash pile couldn't convince carbon conscience lenders. As CEO Paul Flynn says obtaining finance for thermal coal is "hard yakka.<strong>.."</strong></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The independent senator <a href="https://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/david-pocock">David Pocock</a> will call for a duty of care in Australian law requiring governments to consider the impact of climate harm on young people in their decision-making.<br>His bill calls for new conditions in Climate Change Act to influence decision-making on projects that could raise greenhouse gas emissions. &nbsp;<br>The introduction of the bill will coincide with the launch of a grassroots “duty of care” campaign supported by environment and community organisations and concerned citizens.</div>]]></description>
