I often give a lot of value to how much I produce and how quickly I do it. Everything has a sense of urgency. I am really trying to rethink the values I have internalized, so that I don't continue to live this way and pass them on to my daughter. I also do not want to continue to create harm to the POC in my life whom I love deeply. I also am aware how deeply I have internalized beliefs about POC, especially black males. It took way longer than I would like to admit to realize this and begin the work. It is especially difficult because so much of my childhood is wrapped up in trauma, so this work for me is nuanced, difficult and layered.
