The top 5 countries that are the happiest are Norway, Denmark, Iceland, Switzerland, Finland. In the documentary "Happy" it explains many reasons on why people may be happy and they give statistics as to why, it says that 40% of happiness comes from intentional activity. In the documentary they interview many different people from different countries, they all give virtually the same reason. In these countries they focus more on what they love or who they love rather than being materialistic. Advice for someone yearning for happiness is just let it come to you or don't try too hard to be happy, and go with the FLOW.

Gatsby tries to achieve happiness by constantly throwing parties so he could reunite with Daisy. He is able to finally see Daisy because of Nick, and they spend a lot of time together. During these times, Jay is the happiest he's ever been because he's been waiting for Daisy for so long. Daisy claims she loves him, but when she killed Myrtle and Gatsby was blamed, she didn't come forward and Gatsby took the fall because he loved her and would do anything for her.

When Gatsby was killed, Daisy ran back to her husband and didn't have the decency to even come to Jay's funeral. I think Gatsby also failed by throwing parties because even though he welcomed people into his home, none of those people respected him. All those expensive and extravagant parties were pointless because he never seemed to enjoy them, and Daisy only showed up to one of them.
