This seems like it is a huge understatement and made me think a lot of wars are very well because of politics like the Vietnam war but, What about the wars that didn't occur because of politics such as when France was attacked and the military that attacked them killed civilians. Russel was a founder of analytical theory and for his time considered a premier logician.

Both quotes emphasize that war creates a mountain of bodies , both civilian and military in nature, from which the survivors stand with dead eyes and a scarred spirit. That war is death and only the dead will know peace. Not the living.
