Treasure hidden in a field

A man finds treasure in his field and sells all that he has and buys the field with treasure.

Meaning:

The treasure is God's Word. A man finds it, dedicates his whole life to God.

The pearl of great value

A merchant found a good pearl and sold everything to buy that pearl.

The pearl is God's Word/faith, and the merchant leaves everything to follow God.

The net

A net is cast into the sea, and gathers lots of different fish. They gathered good fish into vessels and threw bad fish away.

Meaning:

On Judgement Day, the angels will separate the wicked from the good. The wicked go to hell.

The Barren Fig Tree

A man planted fig trees and waited 3 years but no fruit came. He tells the servant to cut it down but the servant says to wait 1 year. The servant dug around the fig tree and fertilised it. If it has no fruit then cut it down, but if the fig bears fruit it will be saved.

Meaning: God works faith in our hearts to produce good fruits.

The lost coin

A lady lost one coin and searched her whole house for the coin. When she found it she celebrated. If a Christian turns away and God brings them back we should rejoice.

The Lost Sheep

God has His elect, and when one leaves, He will leave all the strong in faith to go and bring back the lost believer. When God finds him and brings him back, God rejoices greatly.

the persistent widow

There was a widow who begs for justice but is not given it by the judge however after a while he brings justice because she kept asking. This means not to give up when praying to God and to not lose faith.

The unforgiving servant

A servant has to pay his master, but he can't, so he begs for mercy and more time to pay. The master has mercy. The servant sees a fellow servant who owes him, but that servant can't pay and begs for mercy. The servant throws him to jail until he can pay. The master is angry when he finds out, and throws the other servant into jail.

Meaning:

Since God forgives us we should forgive others. If not, we will be punished.

There was a rich man who had two sons. The youngest son wanted his inheritance and to leave home. He leaves home and wastes the money on a lavish lifestyle and is soon without money and friends. He then has to feed pigs. After a while he goes back home to become a servant however, he is welcomed back by his father with a party. Unfortunately, the brother is mad and jealous. The eldest son are the pharisees and scribes, the youngest son are other believers who turned away. the father is God who excepts any believers who repent and turn back to him.

the good samaritan

A person gets half killed by people (thieves). A Priest came, saw him, rushed off and Levite comes. Levite looks at him, and goes away. Also a Pharisee sees him and doesn't help. Then a Samaritan comes, helps him and pays for him and tends to his wounds.

Meaning: help everyone. Also, the Israelites rejected Jesus but the Samaritans (gentiles) accepted him.

A Pharisee prayed to God in the view of everyone and boasted about how good he was. A tax collector prayed humbly and wouldn't even lift his eyes to heaven. The tax collector's prayer wash heard while the Pharisee's didn't.

Pray to the Lord in secret! don't boast or the lord will not listen to your prayer. we should shut the doors and windows and pray in secret because then you will be blest

The father is God, and the first son is the harlots who says no but then changes their mind. The second son is the pharisees. They seem good on the outside but they're not in the inside. The Lord doesn't care what you look like on the outside, it's the heart that matters!

A beggar lives outside a rich man's house however he is ignored so he dies and goes to heaven. Later on, the rich man dies and goes to hell. He asks for some water to cool his mouth from heaven. When he is refused he asked to have Lazarus to be sent to warn his brothers but is refused again. This means that the proud and rich will have a good time on earth but they we will go to hell.
