Other things we've done that have been successful are playing Would You Rather (either.io is a good website to generate some quick ideas)

We've also been playing Scattegories, Categories, been creating some pass along stories. 

If there's relevant news for the day, we'll distribute this as well.

Sporcle Quizzes have also been used to varying success.
