         <title>Early Life</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Theodore "Teddy" Roosevelt was born October 27, 1858 in New York City. He had three siblings and was often sick as a child with asthma. He was fascinated with zoology and taxidermy from a young age and lead a life a intense physical exercise to combat his breathing problems. He also studied boxing after getting in a physical altercation with two boys. He attended Harvard starting in 1876 and studied biology, naval history and tactics, science, philosophy, and rhetoric. After his father's death he switched focus to law instead. His first marriage was to Alice Hathaway Lee in 1880. Unfortunately, she died from kidney failure two days after giving birth to their daughter.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>After college, Roosevelt became a State Assemblyman specializing in counter-corruption. He also served as the President on the Board of the NYC Police Commissioners. During the Spanish-American War he formed the First US Volunteer Calvary Regiment, also known as the Rough Riders, serving as a Colonel.  He continued his political career when he became Governor of New York in 1898.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>In 1901, Roosevelt was sworn into office as after the assassination of President McKinley. His main policies at the beginning of his time in the white house were Trust Busting and Regulating big businesses. This began with the Sherman Anti-Trust Act, and breaking up the Northern Securities Company. He ran for re-election in 1904 and was in a time when the political climate was most Americans felt economically disadvantaged thus his platform of giving every American a Square Deal. He also advertised a foreign policy of "Big&nbsp; Stick Diplomacy," in other words, have a bigger military than your enemy. He was a Republican who served from 1901 to 1908. While campaigning for Presidency in 1912, Roosevelt was shot in an assassination attempt shortly before a speech. Rather than going to the hospital, he gave the full 90 minute speech and then announced he had been shot.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Roosevelt loved national parks, and enjoyed hiking in solitude so much that on occasion he would disappear into the national park's for up to a month, in office.</div>]]></description>
