   The current population of South Africa is 61,017,944 as of Monday, October 17, 2022, based on Worldometer elaboration of the latest United Nations data. South Africa ranks number 25 in the list of countries by population. The median age in South Africa is 27.6 years.
   South Africa’s Constitution recognises 11 official languages: Sepedi, Sesotho, Setswana, siSwati, Tshivenda, Xitsonga, Afrikaans, English, isiNdebele, isiXhosa and isiZulu. For centuries South Africa’s official languages were European – Dutch, English, and Afrikaans(?). African languages, spoken by at least 80% of the people, were ignored. In 1996 South Africa’s new Constitution gave official protection to all major languages.
     In my opinion it’s really heartbreaking  heartbroken, because when you live in your country you want to  wanna speak your language, you wanna want to represent your culture, your origin, and not speak the most common language just to facilitate communication. This happened in Ukraine too, we were obliged to speak russian, we were forbidden prohibited to speak or read in Ukrainian. I completely understand the feelings of this people.

When you going abroad probably you won’t be able to speak your mother tongue language, and in this case, you are forced to speak the language of the country were you are going to. Otherwise Perhaps you will have the lucky chance to meet tourists in your own city, and of course, you will need to speak more than 1 one language. When I was 12 years old, I had that chance, but I cannot enjoyed couldn´t enjoy it due to not knowing English. Time flies, and now I know roughly 5 languages. As might be a expected I am not fluent in those all those languages, because for me the word “fluency” means that you have completed some courses or you have studied at  in the university, something like that, not just because you understand 3 or 4 words. 
         When I went to Spain with my sister I was enjoying every moment of that trip, walking on the streets, seeing monuments, talking to Spanish people in Spanish. This time I really enjoyed communication comparing to my first experience in my city. 
         Day by day, I use all my language knowledge to speak Portuguese to my Portuguese friends, Ukrainian to my family, English to tourists, sometimes Spanish. If everything turns out all right, one day I will be a polyglot, and will work in this sphere.
