Chains- BY: Usher feat. Nas, Bib Bourley

The song Chains by Usher is a pop/rap mix song with very strong lyrics relating to the discrimination against black people. In the beginning of the song they quote the national anthem and question it. "With liberty and justice for all. J-j-j-j-justice for all" These lyrics open up the song and them lead into verses about being in chains, running and feeling insecure about themselves. This related to discrimination because they speak about being treated differently and unfairly. Towards the end of the song they call out to the senators, presidents, and congressmen saying, "We got a problem that needs an acknowledgment". These lyrics express great emotion and feelings about discrimination.

A Change Is Gonna Come- BY: Sam Cooke

This slow jazz song written by Sam Cooke is a very smooth melody that opens up talking about him as a boy and growing up talking about a change will come. Within the video pictures of Martin Luther King Jr., black protests, and presidents are depicted. They lyrics, "I got the movie, and I go downtown, and somebody keep telling me to not hang around" is an example of blacks being prohibited from certain places and certain activities. It shows the discrimination that black people receive from the white people. It demonstrates the lack of freedom that people received in older times. It wraps up talking about the long times, but in the end he still has hope that things will change and people will change.

Black Or White- BY: Michael Jackson

The upbeat song that Michael Jackson performs is a song about equality for all. This song brings up multiple times "that it doesn't matter if you're black or white". The song talks about the importantcy of equality and gender nor race should be factored in. "I'd rather hear both sides of the tale, see it's not about races or places", is sung mid-way through. These lyrics are great topics for anti-racial and not discriminating against black people. It is an important message and great song because of how discrimination was vital in an earlier time period.
