I think politics is a messy business, mixed with rivalries, ambitions, and influence. As citizens who are outside the inner circle of this ongoing power struggle, it is sometimes difficult to discern what is true and false, like what a particular candidate has actually done or not, and what are their intentions behind their actions. It makes one think if they are doing it for the benefit of this country with many present issues, or the approval of the common people and nothing more? That is why voters are encouraged to dedicate their spare time to the research of the applicants' backgrounds and platforms before making their decision. Because once you dip your finger in that purple ink bottle, there's no going back.

Honestly, it scares me for the future of the country. It will only be six years until the next election, but six years is quite a long time. And a lot can be done in that period, for better or worse. The thing is, most people can't just learn from the mistakes of the past that led our country to disaster. Especially the fact that dynasties don't last. That is what I worry about the most this coming May.

I always have, as political feuds are surging in day to day conversations. In the past that I have studied it is power, popularity, charisma or money that are always a priority to the majority of this country. It seems that those priorities are still active. Filipinos often encourage politicians that have committed heinous crimes to their fellow countrymen. Or vote for a charismatic politician who's promises are hollow.

All I pray for is that those who vote soon realize the power they will give to whoever is their chosen candidate and be wise in their decision. I pray their candidate will use that power wisely or just at this point do the bare minimum. But the future is a foggy period. After all the people are in their most desperate now like they have always been, flocking to someone who would build towers instead of someone who will feed the poor.

I'm hoping that most fi not all of our citizens will vote for the right President not just because their friends or family made them do it or if they just like one specific person due to popularity, not knowing and thinking what would happen if that candidate won. There are good and bad sides to every person but they have to vote for a president that knows how to have good leaderships and good enough education to be able to stand up for themselves, their country and to know when to admit they're wrong. They have to also know how to help those people who have lost their jobs due to this pandemic and also help this country with corruption and poverty.
