This house represents resistance to collaborating, "I can do this by myself" (CTSS-Professionalism). Another Helen Keller quote states the essence of collaboration: "Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much". We continue to defend the importance of collaboration and how it doesn't take away "your time", but essentially gives you time back as one can better game plan for students when multiple minds come together.

This house represents our current reality, both the praises and our opportunity for growth. To begin with, we have so many individuals at Hawthorn with the work ethic of this craftsman. They intentionally plan for success by having clearly defined goals and objectives. They do not shut their doors and keep others out. Instead, they embrace their team members and look forward to bringing them into their circle. We (as administrators) have to also be guardians of these individuals, because they all too often volunteer to carry the load and others quickly realize they can reap the benefits of "someone else needing to do the work". If not careful, the individuals begin to carry so much of the load, their light dims and eventually burns out.

Conclusion--Protecting from the outside forces (the wolf)

Harry S Truman once said, "It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit". Our focus remains "keeping the main thing the main thing". Our students come first and we are collectively in this altogether. If we do not have effort on everyone's part, then it is up to us to facilitate conversations over what our priorities are and whether or not Hawthorn (or Camdenton) is the best fit for them. Noise/outside forces/the wolf--no matter what we call it, we have to be aware of the impact it can have on our students' learning and overall school culture and do our best to eliminate it.
