Students identified special needs peers as a "huge distraction" in the classroom. Incorporating tolerance and acceptance of neurodivergent students into Advisory lessons and/or the general education classroom may help this culture/climate.

I noticed that students appreciate humor. In the mental health world, laughter really is good medicine, and that affects learning in a positive way! Teachers should continue to add the humor, allow for laughter at an appropriate time--stress relieving! If a teacher hasn't tried it, ask a fellow teacher who does and get ideas from them. Humor should not be confused with sarcasm; I've seen negative effects from that.

I think we all do a good job of listening to students - and identifying their needs, but some of their responses are a reminder that there may be things going on in their lives that we don't know about.
