Commentary: Thoreau famously spent a period of his life living in seclusion on the banks of Walden Pond in the northern United States. Like Bach and Shostakovich, Thoreau helped to establish a new genre is his craft. Thoreau, along with other like Ralph Waldo Emerson, created the transcendentalist movement, now studied by millions of scholars and student across the world. While his exploration of new ideas in literature is certainly notable, it is the content of his writing that is most important in the context of the theme of the unknown. Thoreau wrote Walden to summarize his thoughts and experiences throughout the time he spent on the pond of the same name. Reading Walden gives a clear impression of Thoreau as a dynamic character, one who develops and alters himself thanks to the knowledge he obtains. It is clear, that after his experience on the pond, Thoreau has changed for the better: he is more introspective; he has come to realizations about the world. Thus, Thoreau’s decision to leave society and live in the unfamiliar wilderness led to his own personal improvement in a grand way.

History- You could be in history as the first person to explore some kind of unknown like Christopher Columbus. He went to sail to try and find a faster way to another country for supplies,  and he discovered America. History- The new technologies created during WW2, specifically used in the Battle of the Midway, were essential to the US success in the war. They were very unknown regarding if the new weapons would even work, but they tried it anyways and yielded much success. Although choosing the known does not give any shock or disappointment, it is exploring the unknown that teaches the greatest lessons and gives the best outcome, therefore there is great value in choosing the unknown.  

Commentary: Everything we know about the world has come from someone brave enough to explore and experiment with unknown territory or new unknown factors to create or discover something new. Isaac Newton has created Laws of Motion that we still use and are present today. Lewis and Clark explored the West in order to make advancements in exploration.

For every country to be on a constant search for this shows the importance of exploring the unknown. While doing this it they were able to find more effiicent ways of life but they also learned the importance of exploring. They gained the true meaning of taking a risk to benefit everyone.

~When I got a puppy and brought him home for the first time he explored the house, sniffing everything and was scared of everything.

1.) The first couple of days the new puppy was home he was afraid of himself in the mirrors because he had never seen those before, he was afraid of new people, and he could not figure out how to go down the steps. After a few months and personal developments in my puppy he became more familiar with his surroundings and less afraid of everyday things.

2.) After a few months my dog started to develop. Not only was he getting bigger he was also developing in the little culture that he knew.
