Q: What kinds of things go in EXPERTISE under "DEFINING THE SCOPE"?

A: Scope should be considered when re-ranking opportunities in order to narrow them down to only the most realistic ones. When trying to assess how much expertise is needed to pursue an opportunity, think about the types of skills employees of the organization would need to possess. Do they currently possess those skills? For example, does your client know a great deal about social media? Does the organization already use it frequently? Do they have that expertise in-house, or could they be trained easily? Would they need to secure outside help? Do they have the resources to pay for outside help? Could that help come from volunteers or interns? If not, perhaps the scope of that particular opportunity makes it "beyond the scope" of what your Campaign could realistically accomplish. Consider the same questions if an opportunity would require graphics skills, website building skills, blog development skills, etc.

Q: What are you looking for in the briefing document? For example, should it be in paragraph format?

A: Yes, you will need to write in complete sentences and use paragraphs, but you can also include bulleted lists, headings, and subheadings to make information easy for the Client to locate in your document. You need to fully describe the results of your developmental research and your diagnosis of the Client's problems/opportunities. You have your Google Docs Activities as a starting point. You also need to describe your recommended goals and objectives. You can include charts, graphs, and images from your presentation Visual Aid. Your Briefing Document should include more detailed information than your presentation and Visual Aid. Feel free to be creative with your formatting. I'm really looking forward to seeing what you come up with! All Teams will be compared to one another for scoring purposes.
