As industrialization progressed and the level of people's wealth increased, we were able to recognize through various current events that our nature was also being destroyed. Economic growth necessarily requires development, and it seems inevitable that the environment will be destroyed in this process. In particular, I was able to raise awareness of the current situation by looking at specific examples of Japan and statistics on environmental destruction caused by economic growth. However, while watching this video, I wondered whether economic growth had contributed to improving environmental problems. If economic growth is not realized, poverty will be neglected, but the negative effects of this will be even greater. In addition, financial resources are needed to solve environmental problems, and economic growth such as building eco-friendly infrastructure could have a positive impact on environmental problems.

I deeply understood that the problems of pollutions and ultimate solutions of vast quantities of trash via this video. Economic growth, especially in the developing countries, is one of the most important things. In low-income countries such as developing countries, waste is used as a means to deal with capital and developed countries. Pollution problems, even though we gives a truck of efforts to solve, are rarely disappear. It is caused by growth of incomes and world's financial abilities. So I ultimately thinks that high- income countries should give enough efforts to support work of solving pollution problems

The presentation well explained the relationship between economic growth and environmental protection.
I liked the way of explanation, dividing the examples into country and business.
For the part of business, I think you nicely utilized the PPF curves to demonstrate environmental protection will lead to economic growth.
Well, it was ironical that when the business don't maximize their own profits by not marginalizing the production the larger production(economic growth) and more sustainability would be. So I was impressed by facing that facts :)
For the country, the specific examples of Japan was good enough to explain how Japan's economic growth led to environmental protection.
Thanks for the nice video :D

As technologies and industries develop around the world, the environment is suffering from side effects. This video also talks about the correlation between economic development and environmental pollution. People need more resources as technology advances and are seriously destroying the environment accordingly. Many countries are implementing many policies to prevent further environmental pollution, but the global warming phenomenon is still accelerating. Therefore, excessive environmental destruction will have to be stopped to generate profits. Also, more and more people will have to practice many ways to prevent environmental pollution.

I think it is of course difficult to care about environmental preservation as new technologies develop and grow economically. However, it was an opportunity to change my mind and think that it was most effective to achieve economic development and environmental preservation at the same time through eco-friendly activities. Of course, it would be very difficult, but I think it is most desirable to make development accordingly by putting the environment in which we live before the development of the country. Also, since more and more developments will be made in the future, I have been thinking about what kind of measures to preserve the environment in the future.

In the presentation, Japan was presented as an example to support its claim that economic growth and environmental protection can occur together. I have experienced this situation firsthand. Even when I walked around the streets in Japan, I didn't see much trash, and the public environment was very pleasant. So, I had a positive perception that Japan is a country with clean streets, and I wanted to visit again. And, I agree that attracting tourists through environmental protection affects economic growth.
After listening to the announcement and investigating it, I found that the Vietnamese government implemented the Environmental Protection Act on the obligation to separate household waste this year. However, the amount of household waste is increasing every year, and some local governments and local governments are illegally reclaiming the continuously increasing amount of waste due to a lack of budget support. The amount of waste being buried was investigated to be about 70% of the total waste. In this situation, according to the opinions presented in the presentation, Vietnam's environmental protection is not being properly protected and its economic growth is also declining. I would like to discuss policies that can solve such environmental problems and lead to economic growth, or ways that we can practice in our daily lives and contribute to environmental protection even a little bit.

It has been a common belief so far that economic growth and environmental protection are incompatible, and environmental policy has been criticized for hindering economic development. However, the presentation was impressive by using appropriate evidence and examples to suggest that economic growth and environmental protection can coexist. Developing countries with low economic levels often use harmful resources for economic development even though they know that the environment is destroyed, and even if it takes a long time, if they introduce environmentally friendly technologies and resources, they can achieve economic development and preserve the environment. In the case of developed countries, the economic condition is already stable, so even if there is spending in the short term, it is necessary to actively protect the environment for long-term profits.

This presentation was the best presentation that I have ever watched in this Forum. I thought that this opinion is very interesting because it balanced between environment and economy very well, not considering economy as evil thing that destroys the environment. However, I have some question. You said tourism industry is a example of how E(environment) and E(economy) can balance, but I think it is too small part to be a reasonable reason. For instance, a factory that produces pencil doesn't need to care about the environment, because it doesn't have some strong link between environment, unlike tourism.
(A pencil factory which abandons waste water illegally doesn't get obvious damage)
Your second reason, Japen, also has problem. In the presentation, a governmnet cleaned the environmnet. Though it is said that government recoginzed the importantce of environment about economy, the thing who actually cleaned the environment is "government", not economy by itself.

I didn't think that economic growth and environmental preservation can happen coincidently. However, it will ask for a high level of technology. It is impossible for developing countries to make their own technologies. As you know, developing countries are more suffering from the pollution that is made in developed countries. I think it will be impossible for the ultimate goal that makes Earth clear to be achieved if the developed countries can't use this technology.

This presentation says environmental protection can have a positive impact on the economy in the long run. I only thought that the environment and the economy were in conflict because economic growth necessarily requires developments and the environment is damaged in this process. However, through the specific graph data presented in the video, I came to think that the environment and economy can coexist.

There is one question that arises from the presentation. Unlike the developed countries presented in the presentation, can environmental and economic coexistence be possible in poor countries? Poor countries will have difficulty establishing systems to protect the environment in the first place. For example, fine dust in India is famous for its seriousness. This is because India has achieved some economic growth, but there are still many poor people, who have no choice but to engage in slash-and-burn farming.

Poor countries do not have the cost and infrastructure to use eco-friendly energy or relatively less polluting energy and fuel. Today, environmental problems are becoming more complicated. It costs a lot of money to dispose of new materials and various types of waste in an eco-friendly manner. If a country's economic level is weak, it will lack the cost to deal with it properly and environmental protection will also be more difficult.

I would therefore like to discuss further economic growth and environmental protection in developing countries, not in developed countries.

In this video, the tourism industry and Japan were cited as examples and argued that economic growth and environmental protection could be carried out at the same time. First, it is said that if tourist attractions such as the sea are not preserved cleanly, the satisfaction of tourists will decrease, and thus the number of visitors will decrease, hindering economic development. In addition, according to simulations, tourism income can increase by 32% when the environment of the sea, which is a tourist attraction, is preserved cleanly. Second, Japan, which achieved economic development and environmental protection at the same time, was able to develop both areas at the same time by establishing strict legal structures and management strategies, giving people awareness of environmental protection, and developing technologies that can reduce environmental pollution and use less energy. The experience of traveling to Japan and seeing clean streets reminded me of this argument. I learned from watching this video that economic development and environmental protection can be achieved at the same time, and I hope other students to show this video to help other students.

After I watched the video, I was interested about the relationship between Economic Growth and Environmental condition. As the Video said, Growth can lead to environmental crisis by releasing harmful components which can be really bad for our environment. However, the ones who can preserve the environment are economically developed countries that have a lot of money to make some policy or develop technology to preserve the environment. I think, in this situation, economically developed countries should help developing countries to develop enviroment - friendly way to prevent future crisis.

This presentation shows how economic dvelopement and environmental pollution are linked. Environment is getting polluted because of the waste from people's using. A s the industry grows, people are getting wealthy. This becomes very central elements in pollution. I believe that these problems can be reduced by corporate eco-friendly policies. Also, I believe that we should find a way to enact environmental protection laws that are sustainable in the long term so that economic development and environmental protection can be achieved at the same time.

In this regard, I think Japan's separate waste bins are a good idea. There are trash cans in playgrounds and parks, but there is only one, so paper or plastic is often thrown away without separation. Therefore, I think that there should be separate waste bins in many places in every country in the world.

Through watching this video about the relationship between economic growth and environmental protection. There is always a dilemma about these two topics. Economic growth rather worsens environment. For example, if government builds firm to pursue economic development, trees are cut down, and toil is polluted. How can we get economic growth and environmental protection in harmony? Why should we solve this problem? First, the reason we should get harmony of these two things is that there is not enough place to deal with trash problem, a garbage landfills. The way we can solve this problem is that developed and developing countries should help each other. Developed country should support developing countries to grow economically. Developing countries should take responsibility together about garbages from developed countries.

In the video, I was impressed that environmental pollution improvement and economic growth could be developed in a balanced manner. But in general, economic growth inevitably pollutes the environment. To reduce environmental pollution, it is to reduce natural resources, which can lead to a decrease in total output, that is, a decrease in GDP, which can lead to a decrease in the standard of living of the people. In addition, developing countries are in an environment where it is difficult to build eco-friendly infrastructure due to slow economic growth. However, I think we can achieve economic growth by reducing environmental pollution through various methods. Therefore, the roles of the government and companies are important, and discussions are needed to improve environmental pollution in developing countries and achieve economic growth in a balanced manner.

We learn about environmental pollution and often think that reckless development and economic growth are the causes of them. This is not wrong, and it is proper idea because there are many cases of cutting mountains to build a golf course or releasing factory wastewater to save more money. However, in this video, the opposite story was told, which could have been an opportunity to think from a different perspective. The logic that if the economy stabilizes, it can naturally implement active policies to protect the environment was impressive, and I thought it was a reasonable explanation. But it was not enough to change my existing thinking. If there is a priority between economic growth and environmental protection, of course, it is environmental protection, and I think it is a great contradiction in our society that it is not being implemented. Let me give an extreme example. Even if we are living in a primitive society because we have not grown economically at all, we can live well since the environment is not polluted, and there is a possibility of development in the future. But in a planet where the environment is polluted and uninhabitable, what's the use of great technology and all of that money? I am not saying that economic development is not important. But before that, what we have to think about is the environment in which we live. Also, if the environment is polluted and an abnormal climate occurs, the economically disadvantaged are damaged. However, it is those who are already economically well off who benefit from economic development. In this respect, economic development that ignores environmental protection creates polarization not only in economic polarization but also in living environments, so I insist that we should think more about the environment.

Economic development and environmental protection, I thought these were words of confrontation. However, watching this video made me think that I could find a balance between economic development and environmental protection. How about developing the economy by developing the industry in a way that considers not only humans but also all ecosystems?

When I finished watching this video, I was interested in the relationship between the environment and the economy. I haven't thought about combining the economy and the environment.
When the economy developed like crazy, environmental pollution got worse. Even though the economy has developed and the environment has been destroyed, the environmental protection movement can be carried out due to the developed economy.
It's ironic.

We want convenience, so we have promoted development. But nowadays, we realized that our Earth is destroying, and protecting the environment is important. As more development, more destory occurs, we should think about this problem. To coexist with the Earth, we should develop with protecting the Earth, like protecting the endangered animals and plants.

It was interesting to present 'The Productions Possibilities Frontiers', and I hope that the Japanese example of saving both the environment and the economy will set a good example for us.

I released the relationship between the environment and the economy. I knew to some extent that the environment is now deteriorating and being destroyed, but I didn't think that economic growth was having such a big impact on the environment. Economic growth is important, too, but I don't think it matters anymore if it affects and destroys the environment.
