Think-Pair-Share

Think pair share is great for any classroom. It allows students to think of an idea or topic on their own, then pair up with a partner, and share their ideas with each other. Students get the chance to be independent, share their ideas, and hear ideas from others. It leads to classroom discussions, and gets students talking. I would use this in my classroom during any subject. If I think students need to get up and move this is something I would do. It also makes it easier on the teacher to hear the student's ideas.

Four Corners Inquiry

Four corners inquiry is a great way to get students up and out of their seats. It's a good way to see the personalities of students, and to see who are the leaders and who are the followers. I would use this assessment when reviewing for a test. I would ask a question and ask students to move to the specific corner. If they strongly agree, agree, disagree, or strongly disagree with an answer.

Yes/No Cards

Yes/no cards is a fast and easy way to see if students are understanding the material being taught to them. Yes/no cards can be left on their desks easy to access. I would use this in the classroom for any subject. For example; if we are doing math problems I can ask students if they think "yes" the answer is right, or "no" the answer is wrong. If I see there are more "no" cards showing I know I need to go back and review what we just went over.

This is great for a preassessment. Students have to fill out a section of what they already know about a topic. Students are literally telling you what they know and what they want to learn about a certain topic or subject.

Turn and talk is a good way for students to chat with their neighbors. As a teacher I would use this before starting a lesson to see what students know. I would listen to the students conversations. Sometimes students need a reminder about something specific. Turn and talk can help those students get reminders to trigger their memory.

Entrance/Exit tickets are an easy way to figure out what students already know or need to know. I would use them in my classroom for almost every subject. They are fast and easy. They do not have to be long worksheets. They can simply be students using a scrap piece of paper to answer a question. They can also be the deciding factor for a teacher, should the teacher move on with the lesson or reteach.
