I teach math, science, social studies... so I don't have a true on/off week. Because I get ONE week to teach science, I feel pressured to fit my science (or SS) unit into the 4 day work week, including the review and assessment. Because we're "trimming" our curric down to the essentials, sometimes it works well. But if we have a typhoon day or national holiday, it makes for a mighty short week, (which I do not do) and hope that they retain that unit's info & concepts for a week until we continue again. It only happens when I "flip-flop" with the science and social studies. I hope I'm being clear. However, the students are very resilient and managing okay when I have to pause a unit and continue a full week later. I probably wouldn't use the word "thriving" though.
