Focus: Ralph and Piggy
Title: "Beached"
Purpose: Establishing leadership and roles in the group
Talking points: Conch, Piggy's name, Ralph betraying trust (What will that lead to?)
-Ralph asserts himself from the start; not caring about Piggy's name and then calling him as such. This is indicative of later situations in which "lesser" people will be put down for the gains of the higher-ups.
-Ralph sees Jack as a lesser and treats him as such despite Jack's current command over the choir boys. Probably going to create a lovely power feud if you ask me.
-Piggy was the brain behind the conch idea, Ralph took the credit by not giving any to Piggy.
-The entire group follows Ralph, and disregards Piggy entirely, which is setting them all up for disaster. Good job for shunning the voice of reason.

Focus: Ralph's title of leadership, Jack's pig, the election
Title: "Beckoning"
Purpose: The dangers of objectification and disregarding the few
Talking points: Piggy's glasses, conch rights, survival vs rescue
-Ralph's leading is only because he possessed the conch, starting a theme of objects being more important than people
-The conch /is/ speech. the blatant objectivity it upon us
-The group vehemently believes that they will be rescued, everyone except Piggy that is (cough cough a nuclear bomb went off). They continue to concern themselves with what are more or less delusions or obsessions
-Ralph takes Piggy's glasses for a fire. Fire is necessary for warmth and cooking, but this is to make a signal fire. To signal a ship. From a tiny little island. In the middle of an ocean. Ralph refuses to see the reality of the situation, and is hellbent on being found.
-Piggy is connected to his glasses right now, but they only want his glasses, not the human behind them
-Group>personal, unless your name is Ralph, then you are the most important
-Back to the leadership election, Jack lost, but was given his own small group of choir boys to command as a hunting party. It is plausible that because of this allowance that Jack might in fact later rise up against Ralph

Jack is the physical embodiment of that monster.
-Simon has taken up the role of perceptive intelligence for now, as he understands why they believe a beast to exist.
-The full on splintering of Jack into his own group is almost done; he left against Ralph's order, and others followed him. No one is in charge of the whole anymore.

There are adults above the island, fighting, and no one seems to care.
-Every single big kid is gone, aside from Piggy, who is tending to the little kids. What is going on during this time; they let the signal fire go out
-Jack has priorities, and the kids are not one of them. He could care less if they died, and Ralph has nothing to really say on it, cementing that there are 3 groups.
-The hunt is uneventful: all they know is that the signal fire went out, and now they have to go back to find out why.

Focus: The obvious threat of the dance, Ralph' s participation in the hunt
Title: Game
Purpose: Growing tensions/primal instincts
Talking Points:
-Simon "You'll get back alright." What does that even mean?
-Ralph joins the hunting part for tonight, and throws a spear at a boar. He feels the pride in having hit the boar, in hunting and hurting. Is it possible that Ralph could become like Jack's boys?
-The "play." An absolutely terrifying event. This is almost like them seeing humans as viable prey.
-Ralph, Jack, and Roger walk upon the dead soldier; all of them see it there, and when the wind picks up the head they run and scream in fear. Ahead knowledge, but this directly leads to why they murdered Simon. The "beast" is real; they all saw it.

Focus: The severed pig head, Simon's realization, Jack's storming off
Title: The Offering
Purpose: To give way to series of horrific events
Talking Points:
-They told Piggy about the beast on the mountain (Get ready for some murder soon)
-Jack left, but now has no fire. Jack is nowhere above any means of getting the glasses, and might kill Piggy for them
-Jack kills the sow. the graphic details are meant to describe the savagery the boys have sunk to. It was nursing piglets, and they rammed a spear up where the sun doesn't shine. These are not boys anymore. Savage psychopaths.
-Simon watched and approaches the pig head. He starts to think that the head, Lord of the Flies now due to the pile of fly-covered cuts on the ground, is talking to him. Basically, the head is saying that Simon is going to be murdered, and that everyone will be responsible.
-"The Chief has spoken." Two leaders now, mostly on Jack's side. Ralph really only has Piggy now, since the left of them left because Jack had the food. Likely to be singled out, or even killed now.

Really?
- Ralph thinking he’s about to die and then opening his eyes to a naval officer — everyone take a deep breath. It’s been intense.
- The smoke from the fire caught the officer’s attention (now you see the signal smoke??
