Doug Barnes My biggest challenge is making sure I remember to complete each module every week. Kidding aside, I do not teach in the traditional classroom and just have 25 or so students. Finding time to teach them with all of the sports going on is a challenge but I believe that I can set stuff up for them to learn on their own at their own pace is possible using the things I learn from this module.

I spend a lot of time in the general education classroom and with very small groups in the resource room. I plan to learn more way to use technology to help modify assignments for my students.

We have a ton of teachable moments during the day that we could utilize some of these great things we are learning, but there is always someone else that needs to be looked at or something else that needs to be done around the athletic training room. I plan on making a daily goal to use technology in a teachable moment.

The challenges faced in this course and implementing technology in the classroom is , much like everyone said, time management. We already have so much packed into the ELA curriculum that often times, it is very difficult to add some of the "cooler" technological resources. I am keeping an open mind; however, and hope that through this course, we can all learn how to time manage and implement technology without feeling rushed or feeling as though we cannot possibly do this with the amount of work we already have on our plates.

When tackling the challenges of this course, I will use many different tools. First will be time management. As others have mentioned, time is definitely a problem for all of us. Next I will use improvising & patience as a tool. In the photo below you will see an example of the majority of the technology available to my students, the netbooks. The students do a great job of being patient, but often we spend more time trouble shooting than actually making good use of the technology. We persever and do great things with what we have! We are so grateful for the reliable Dells that 5 of my students are able to use, and look forward to Chrome books soon! My plan to overcome the challenge of devices, is to have students work together sharing the Dell computers. This allows for collaboration, which was mentioned in the videos we watched! I look forward to tackling any challenges with a growth mindset and positive attitude!

As a Special Education teacher I think I will struggle with two main points with using higher levels of technology in my class. One is this will be the time I have kids in my room. We only have 30 minute sessions. A second struggle is when we do use technology we will be on a substitution level to stat out with, this will be the first year my friends have had a one to one device and they need to learn the basics first. I do spend a great deal in gen ed classrooms where I am able to see technology in action and assist students there. As for the struggles with myself in this course, I do not automatically think of technology. I first think of pencil paper tasks, when I am so proud of myself to intergrade technology it never goes as planned, I am flexible but cannot control tech issues...hopefully the chromebooks with be a breath of fresh air...

As a specials teacher, we have a difficult time checking out the iPad carts for a week. Hopefully the issuance of Chromebooks for 3-5 will aide in the availability of technology in our classrooms. I attempted many times to go to the computer lab and even checked out netbooks when they were decommissioned from the middle schools. The lag time and the memory on these computers cause much frustration for my students and myself, but I refuse to give up. With 1:1 technology in the upper grades, it may allow for more access to the iPad carts for the lower grades. I am excited!
