Learning aims: observation of works of art, children's experiences of artistic production, encouraging more detailed observation processes , promoting awareness and literacy towards artistic and plastic vocabulary, working with their sensibility.

Axes: Appreciation and production

Development: After conducting an exchange and research about the meaning of self-portrait and the difference with a portrait, the teacher and students begin with the reading of images of self portraits made by plastic artists of different eras and different artistic movements-. Then, the teacher encourages students to describe them by pointing out aspects such as shapes, expression, colors, position (front – profile) , background and figure. Then, we compare and classify them according to different criteria proposed by children and associate the different parts of the face with geometric shapes, pointing out aspects such as the shape of the face, nose, mouth, and also emotional expressions ( smile, happiness, sadness, anger).

Production: Children have to analyse the self portrait of Picasso and then they have to reinterpret it by themselves. We continue with the creation, by the children, of their own self-portraits using mirrors and photos.

Secondary students can print a picture and learn about screen printing, working with the Art teacher in an interdisciplinary way, and talk about series techniques, commonly used in PopArt.

For kindergarten, we can point out the colours and the animals' names. We can scope their choices into 2 animals, the teacher can draw them, give copies to each student and they can paint them.

-Learning aims: To develop writing, thinking, literacy skills and the use of literature vocabulary. To create their own poem with the words given.

-Axes: Appreciation, production and sociocultural context.

- Development: The teacher shows this picture to the students, they discuss what type of text it is, guessing the context, author, type of literature and so on. Then, they have to see written words as an art form. This is Blackout poetry which focuses on rearranging words to create a different meaning. This way the students have to think critically as they search for anchor words that create a powerful story. It encourages the use of imagery and color to bring more meaning to the message. It is supposed that students may use their imagination and write whatever they feel and interpret in their own work of art, this time poetry.
