Upon watching the recorded discussion, I was able to gain a lot of new information with regard to communication and language. It was discussed that communication does not happen to human beings only - it also occurs to the tiniest of the living species that exists on Earth. The essence of communication was also highlighted in the discussion, and how it has aided us in making our lives easier. Apart from that, the importance of speech and language was also emphasized throughout the discussion. Different theories were introduced that are in line with speech and language - and its history. Features as well were discussed. To sum it up, the presentation about the development and evolution of language has given me new insights and knowledge about communication, speech, and language as well. It has made me realize how far the development and transformation of these has been, and how important it is to acknowledge how much it has helped us in the past, and in the present.

With this, I find this report relevant because I became knowledgeable of the features of language when it comes to the characterization of human speech. It explains how we can be able to differentiate the human language from the form of communication that animals have.

We have come to realize the need of acknowledging communication not only among humans but also among animals, creatures that don't communicate through words but through the language of nature. Us as the Higher intelligent species, we can differentiate Human language and Animal(Or as I like to call it "Nature Language") Language, the history of Language and Speech is an essential topic for us to know the roots of the roots of our language, seeing it evolve as time progress.

The voice of the presenter was very calming that's why I was able to grasp something from her presentation. Over thousands of years, people have evolved a broad range of ways for attributing specific meaning to sounds, resulting in the formation of words and systems. The steady change of human language through time is referred to as language evolution. It is concerned with the origin and development of languages and linguistic families. Communication is not confined to human speech; it may also be found in the smallest of other animals.

In this discussion or topic which is Development and Evolution of Language, much new knowledge or information was introduced to me. Communication was further discussed and its channels which are the acoustic, optical, tactile, and olfactory channels. Design features of the language were also being highlighted and of course the development of Language.

The presenter discussed many things about this topic, but one thing that struck me the most is how language has evolved and developed. From what I have gained, the continuity theory suggests that speech evolved over time from rudimentary forms passed down from our forefathers. On the other hand, according to the discontinuity theory, all humans' common ancestors must have had the ability to speak before groups arose which are physically diverse and suited to many settings. But Eric Lenneberg rejected the first theory because there is no evidence that human speech is the result of the accumulation of various skills throughout the period of evolution. Different names were also stated who contributed to the evolution of languages like Givon and Stephen Pinker. In other words, languages have undergone a lot of things.

With these insights I gained, I realized that we must remember that human language evolved from a totally different context and has through numerous transformations and reconfigurations in order to reach its current state. So, as future educators, we must value our language and don't let it die just like that.

The concept of communication was expounded by the presenter which has aided me in gaining new knowledge about it. The Development and Evolution of Language as presented by Miss Orabe has touched plenty of notions. One of these is how communication does not only occur to human beings - but also to tiniest species to exist in the world. This proves that communication knows no boundaries. Apart from that, different theories which are still inclined with the evolution of language were also highlighted in the presentation.

All in all, I was able to come up with the realizaion that communication knows no boundaries, and language has evolved a lot through time - with the help of a lot theories and researches done by ingenious individuals. And us, as pre-service teachers, must know and be familiar with all of these to be able to fully embody our role as English teachers.

This lesson basically taught us that language are not for humans like us only. Even animals have their own language we humans are somehow capable of understanding them despite having a big difference in expressing it. Say for example when you're dog keeps on barking, it signifies that there might be someone outside or maybe they're hungry and we are somehow able to understood what message they're trying to convey. With the help of this topic, I was able to know that language does not limit itself to humans but also to other tiny creatures living on this planet and that made language more beautiful.

The idea in this presentation was very important to understand, as it talks about how our language developed and evolve. The language's design aspects, as well as its development, were highlighted.
Much more this, it gives more emphasis that communication and its channels including acoustic, optical, tactile, and olfactory channels, were also discussed. That gives us an idea as to the medium and means we communicate with one another. The idea of continuity and discontinuity were also pointed out. Whereas, continuous development considers our growth to be a cumulative process in which changes occur gradually. Discontinuous development, on the other hand, sees our growth as taking place in discrete steps or stages: Changes are abrupt. This explains how language has evolved and developed. This would also give us as to how communication affects our language development. As we continuously communicate with one another we are also building the possibility of the evolution and development of language.
