In addition to learning how to play, I also decided to see how it affect my mood throughout the day.  
Over the past 3 weeks, I have recorded my "level of happiness" before and after practicing the ukulele, and now I can say with confidence that it did indeed make a difference. Most of the times, before practicing I was stressed and tired , but by 10 minutes into it, my mood would completely change and I would become much happier and energized.
