He has on multiple occasions displayed courage and bravery, especially in the film "Avengers: Endgame" when he assumed he was the only hero remaining and still was preparing to take on Thanos and his army of millions of monsters. Captain America never looked to other people for support or backing, instead, he was always ready to give whatever he had to the opposition, even if it was completely alone. In Emerson's "Self Reliance", he states that "Whoso would be a man must be a nonconformist." Ignaz Semmelweis was a Hungarian physician who was the first person to develop the idea of washing hands and staying hygienic to prevent disease. At the time, his ideas were ridiculed and not taken seriously by many, and some even opposed him with a great passion. He embodied the principles of truly being at one with nature, ridding himself of most worldly or material things before he set out into the wilderness of Alaska. Even the man who gave Chris a ride to the start of the trail where he wanted to begin his journey had offered him some food, money, and supplies, much of which McCandless refused to accept. He did not expect to receive any help from anyone during his journey, nor did he give up at a time earlier than the last moments of his life. Some lyrics from the song that are parallel to text from the essay include "You better lose yourself in the music, the moment...Make me king, as we move toward a New World Order A normal life is borin'..." This song basically places a lot of emphasis on not letting go of opportunities that arise, and that those opportunities will change you and make you a better person. Emerson in his essay "Self-Reliance" speaks much about taking opportunities that are different from the standard, and that one should not conform to society but rather venture out and do what one deems necessary for that individuals understanding and knowledge.
