         <description><![CDATA[<div>The Industrial Revolution was a time when the manufacturing of goods moved from small shops and homes to large factories. <br>How this impacted or influenced Realism is that it had served as a direct antithesis to the poet's subject matter during that time. <br>The Civil War also influenced Realism by the Americans wanting to escape into an ideal world especially with all of the death and destruction from the war. <br>The Progressive Era was a  period of widespread social activism and political reform across the United States that spanned the 1890s and the 1920s. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div> 3 similarities between  Realism and Romanticism are that Romanticism typically shows fantastical situations and Realism uses facts to depict ordinary everyday experiences. Realism is a direct contrast to Romanticism as it does not beautify or make things more appealing. <br>3 differences between Realism and Romanticism are that Realism believes that  all actions and opinions should be based on reason rather than emotion. Romanticism takes no account of the irrational urges and desires that human beings tend to have.</div>]]></description>
