People can save energy at home by using energy efficient light bulbs and by turning off the lights in rooms that are not being used. As people conserve energy, less carbon emissions occur. Electricity is generated in power plants which burn fossil fuels to function. Burning fossil fuels then causes greenhouse house gases to be formed, speeding up climate change. By saving energy at home, less electricity is needed resulting in the decreased dependence on power plants.
