         <description><![CDATA[<div>Question 5<br>-Teacher's role- provide the student with assistance and different options of what AT she prefers<br>-Best practice- be culturally aware and provide good resources and assistance, make sure to always make adjustments as needed.<br>-Cultural Competence- be aware of different cultural values the student might hold<br><br>Question 6 <br>-Technical- be aware of what services and technology she has had up to the present, follow and be aware of AT rules and education rules, find websites and other resources for her<br>-Critical- work with other school professionals and those around you, individualize devices and technology to meet the students' needs<br>-Contextual- ensure you have cultural representation and think about how her background affects her, use picture cues and word banks since you know that she does better with visuals<br><br>Question 7<br>-Contextual- visit with the family to learn about them, their culture, and what they have to provide, educational backgrounds of guardian<br>-Critical- use the resources you have available to learn about the student's culture and take what you know and share with colleagues, discuss with ELL teacher to expand knowledge, get involved with other community groups </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Question 5:</strong> AT already in place for J.C., but the team consistently meets to ensure she has the updates she needs in regards to vocabulary, materials, etc.<br>Cultural competence: treat her fairly make sure she is treated fairly by other teachers and peers<br><br>Best practice actions:</div><div>To make sure her device was working properly so she receives a proper education<br>speak to her in a way she understands without speaking to her unnecessarily different<br>Communicate with parents to ensure she is getting what she needs<br>Utilize pictures to support learning</div><div><br><strong>Question 6: <br></strong>Question 1: critical (strengths and needs heavily impact our ability to be psychologically and physiologically comfortable), contextual (strengths and needs define how we interact with the world around us), technical (law requires we meet the needs)<br><br>Question 2: technical (functional needs must be met per section 504)<br><br>Question 3: contextual (her AT impacts the ways she interacts with her environment), critical (her AT allows her to connect with peers and be involved)<br><br>Question 4: critical (incorrect AT can cause significant stress, correct AT can help quality of life)<br><br>Question 5: contextual (teachers and special educators are part of J.C.’s contextual component of her critical emotion praxis because they spend a great amount of time with her in her environment)<br><br><strong>Question 7:</strong></div><ul><li>Critical Emotion Praxis<ul><li>Contextual: all cultures are different so it is important to consider many different aspects and never assume anything when working with a family</li><li>Technical: Lau Plan (avoiding disproportionality, fair assessment, providing services that are needed)</li><li>Critical: consider the student’s feeling of belonging</li></ul></li><li>Ensure communication is clear (dialect, language, etc.) </li><li>Work with time schedules</li><li>Clarify goals and plans </li><li>Connect the family with resources they need, develop a relationship that is strong enough to where the family feels comfortable expressing their needs</li><li>Invite them to be a part of the school community (events, parents orgs, student orgs, field trips, etc.)</li></ul><div><br></div><div><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Question 5: Special and General education teachers align assignments specifically to the AT device. It is the educators responsibility to be non-biased. Best practices could be to allow for extra time to complete with AT device. Along with implementing voice recognition, allowing for the student.<br>Question 6: <br>Technical: past and future AT device (word prediction, scribe, voice recognition)<br>Contextual: dictating to the scribe,  using voice recognition to type<br>Critical: individualized AT device for his needs, ensuring he is able to use the device <br>Question 7:<br>Contextual:  home visits to get idea of what resources the student has at home<br>Critical: inclusive classroom and being aware of accent differences when using voice recognition</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Question 5: Include the special education teacher in the plan for used AT devices and ways to help strengthen skills in reading/spelling. Bring in AT specialist to help advise on new technology that would be beneficial to B.D. in her writing but also help advance skills. Discuss inclusiveness within the general education classroom and what that looks like alongside her AT.<br><br>Question 6:<br>1) Contextual: looking at her background and histories in academics<br>2) Contextual: because of background within education<br>3) Technical: currently used technologies and the practices held with those.<br>4) Technical: Evaluation of different products and why they may be helpful<br>5) Technical: Evaluation of current practices <br>Critical: looking at teacher's standpoints and their power to determine accessibility and allowing B.D. access to technology she will benefit from<br><br>Question 7: make parents aware of students needs. Explain what AT is, what technology is being utilized, why B.D. needs it, and how it works and helps her in her academia.</div>]]></description>
