In chapter 4 of Every Song Ever by Ben Ratliff, talks about transmission and what his opinion is on the subject. I believe Ben is defining transmission as the emotion shown throughout the songs that makes you feel whatever it is that connects you to the song. Love songs for people who are in love make them feel all happy and warm inside, while for people who are not in love it might make them feel sad. Another thing Ben talked about throughout the chapter was how artist emphasize certain words or phrases in the songs to help the listeners feel those emotions in the song. This time I do agree with Ben Ratliff on what he is saying about how artist make you feel what the song is all about, and also about how the artist emphasize phrases and words throughout the song to connect with you. After reading the chapter, I decided to listen to the songs that Ben Ratliff gave as examples, and the one that stood put to me the most was The Other Half Of Me by Andy Bey. The reason this song stood out to me was because I could hear the emphasize the artist put on the lyrics "the other half of me" for the to connect with the emotion that he is trying to display. Another song, I believe that goes great with transmission would be Perfect by Ed Sheeran. The reason I believe this would be a great song of transmission not from the book, because you can hear Ed Sheeran put emphasizes on certain lyrics for you to connect with the love song he is trying to sing to his loved one, and he is putting emotion into his sing to make his listener that can relate to this song fall in love. Another song that is non-reading related would be "Too Good At Goodbyes". The reason I also believe this is a great example is, because you can also tell how he emphasizes his lyrics especially the ones that he wants you to connect with. There's many songs that could be used as examples of transmissions, but these are the ones that stood out the most to me after reading this chapter.
