This is a very useful and quick formative assessment tool. The beauty is that after you have created an assessment (we used it for math) and administered it, the scores are immediate! This allows you to make the changes you need for the students who need them.

I worked with classkick trying to find an option for our PLTW assessments. I rather like the program, but it would be nice to have some built-in correcting. I downloaded the Adobe version of our Lesson 1 Assessment, and it downloaded seamlessly. The students can use the drawing tool and all, but I am still to get the text box figured out. Overall, this may not be the best choice for a larger assessment, but it will work for shorter assignments for sure.

Padlet is a formative assessment tool I loved to use in writing. It is a wonderful way to organize students thoughts and begin the writing process. It has awesome graphic organizers for students to use and teaches students to track their thoughts. This is a tool that can be used at any grade level and for any subject. It would be great for pretesting and see what the students already know as well. The students like how they can use PadLet instead of taking notes or filling out a graphic organizer on paper. It allows them to be creative, too! I like how the students can take pictures of their work and save it.

Plickers is a fast easy way to assess students without a lot of technology. I like the fact that each student doesn’t need a device to answer questions. It is a great way to get immediate feedback from the students. I like how each student has a number they keep all year. I loved how it keeps the students results. It is not only a quick formative assessment tool, but it is an effective way to track the students’ progress.
