America is a Christian nation. by Elsa Miller

On the timeline below, please make one post that states where you were on the continuum when we began discussion, and where you ended up. To show the rest of the class what you decided, upload a photo of a thumbs up if you think that America IS a Christian nation, or a thumbs down if you think it is NOT a Christian nation. If you are not sure, upload a picture of the "hang loose" hand sign. Was your change along the continuum dramatic, or did you not move during discussion? (I have included class pictures to refresh your memory.)

Please add one sentence about an idea you did not understand or would perhaps like to know more about.

Finally, add one sentence that answers what you did well today, and add one sentence that discusses an aspect of discussion that you would like to improve.

Last one: did you meet our success criteria for the day?

“I will know I’ve advanced my own ability to democratically engage in debate when I have moved positions along the continuum based upon having been persuaded by a convincing peer’s rationale and given supporting evidence for that belief; or I have remained in place and expressed one reason I have stayed and one reason why a peer’s contention has not persuaded me to move.”

-My change along the continuum was sort of dramatic. I started the day convinced that America is a Christian nation, but ended up on the opposite side of the continuum after Alyssa spoke about the constitution.

-One idea from discussion that I did not really understand is how the first amendment is not proof that America is NOT a Christian nation, they say it right there! I did not hear any answer that disproved that point.

-Today I did a good job of listening to learn, not just to respond. I would like to improve listening more than I speak though, in order to be fair to the rest of the class.

-I did meet success criteria!
