In Florida, houses are made of wood and glass and some homes even have a built in pool. The price increases as you move closer to Miami because then they are made of concrete. Also the houses in Miami have great views of the beach and the sea. Most homes have air conditioning because it is so hot. They also have electricity. Normally rural houses are surrounded by forests and rivers. Also some houses outside Miami might cost less because of crocodiles and mosquitoes. There is still great scenery outside Miami. The average house in Miami has three bedrooms, two bathrooms and there is twelve rooms if they are two storey. The price for a average house is two hundred thousand but prices may vary
between counties. We think that houses in Florida are amazing.

In Rio's favelas, most homes are made from brick and cement, a majority have running water and about 99% have electricity. Sanitation/ hygiene is often a big problem in Rocinha sewage flows down a large channel in the middle of houses.

In 2017, The Economist reported a population of 100,000 in an area of 1 km (squared). It takes up 6% of Brazil population. More than 600,000 people live in the favelas.

There are not much facilities there. But they do have there basic needs e.g stolen electricity from down the street, food and work for some of them. There is no heating, the sun is the best heater they have. They also have no toilets.

Most favela house's contain up to 6 family members sharing 2 bedrooms adults in one room and children in the others. Sometimes the kids will have to sleep on the floor and if it rains the whole building will collapse.

The outside is very dirty with peoples waste thrown on the ground.

At least 160 people die every day and 58559 people have died since 2014. This is tragic and really sad.

In our opinion we would not like to live in a favela because the government don't fund for these poor places. We also don't like the way that the government made the owners of their favela paint their house so it will look nice. We are very lucky not be living there.
