In super maximum security prisons or super maxes escape is nearly impossible. Alcatraz housed almost 300 of the most hardened federal prisoners and no one is known to escape and survive. In super maxes prisoners are isolated from each other, when they leave their cells they are in handcuffs and sometimes leg shackles. The only view of the outside is a tiny window that shows the sky, plumbing is flood proof, and the bedding is fireproof. They leave their cells a few times a week to exercise in wire cages alone. Furniture is made of cement and cannot be moved.
