The way to change the Aperture on the camera is you take the dial on top of the camera and change it to "A". Then you use the other dial and you spin it and look on the camera display till you get the aperture that you want. When the aperture changes the depth of field changes. For example a low aperture makes the subject very clear and the background fuzzy. With a high aperture there is a deep depth of field and you can see the entire picture with the background in detail. When you should use aperture priority is when you want to take a portrait picture and you want the background to be fuzzy or a picture of a landscape and you want the whole picture to be very clear. You basically use it when you want to change the depth of field.
