Hello! To explain a little about myself, I guess we can start off with the basic stuff. My name is Zaida (zay-duh), and I just turned 20 years old on August 19th. I am half Korean and was born in Daegu, South Korea, then moved to Springfield when I was 5 years old. I'm currently working on getting an AAT at OTC and I plan on becoming a certified elementary teacher once I graduate from a four year college/uni.

Goals for teaching

Sometimes I get a little overwhelmed when explaining my goals for teaching. I always feel inspired when reading academic articles or watching TED talks about progressive teaching and student-centered strategies. One primary goal I have of mine as a future teacher is to implement strategies that focus on each individual student in the classroom and make sure that they feel respected, safe, comfortable and welcomed. From my experience throughout K-12, I felt that I was not treated fairly because I was Korean American. Because of this, I want to assure my future students that I notice them as the individual that they are, no matter their race, religion, status, gender, sexuality, etc.
