         <description><![CDATA[<div>This section aims to provide segments of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture and practice which may be related to the learning outcomes of junior science in the Victorian Curriculum.<br><br>Particular focus is placed on building teacher and student knowledge on history and practice,  with aims that in doing so, we as a classroom may work towards (re)discovery and recovery of Indigenous culture. <br><br>This section also addresses area 1.4 of the professional standards for teachers: <br>"Demonstrate broad knowledge and understanding of the impact of culture, cultural identity and<br>linguistic background on the education of students from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander backgrounds” (AITSL, 2011). </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The resource not only aims to (re)discover Indigenous practice and culture, but it also opens the door to bringing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander traditions into our present classrooms through pedagogical methods.<br><br>Indigenous histories have been passed through generations via various mediums:<br>Story-telling is the primary form, including speaking, song, dance, art and craft. Messaging is another, through mediums such as sticks, rocks, sand, art, body paint, and carvings.<br><br>By exploring Indigenous culture and practice through Indigenous mediums for teaching, we may link past, present and future, in our classroom.</div><div><br></div>]]></description>
