This custom has a meaning of having a baby, because the tile refered to the parts on the loom, and most women work in sewing industry, so it has a meaning of fiving birth to a daughter.

It's out of my expected since I heard breaking tiles has a meaning of giving birth to a daughter, because I guess no one would associate the pronouciation tile with a idiom in Chinese.

I like the setting of the bamboo, because it symbolizes a bride's chastity, just like the diverse symbols of bamboo in the past time, it has a lots meaning, such as tenecity, modesty, and high moral character.
